Introduction

The FRANKEVER Smart IR Remote Control is a universal infrared blaster designed to centralize control of your home entertainment and smart devices. Compatible with over 50,000 infrared-controlled appliances such as TVs, set-top boxes, DVD players, air conditioners, and fans, this device integrates seamlessly with smart home ecosystems like Alexa and Google Assistant. It operates via a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, allowing remote control through the Smart Life app and voice commands.

Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Smart IR Remote Control and connect it to your devices.

1. Physical Connection

2. App Installation and Device Pairing

  1. Download the Smart Life app from your smartphone's app store (available for iOS and Android).
  2. Register or log in to your Smart Life account.
  3. In the app, tap the "Add Device" or "+" icon.
  4. Select "Universal Remote Control" or "Others (Wi-Fi)" from the device list.
  5. On the Smart IR Remote Control, press and hold the small button on the bottom until the blue indicator light starts blinking rapidly (approximately 20 seconds). This puts the device into pairing mode.
  6. Confirm the indicator light is blinking rapidly in the app and proceed.
  7. Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network password. Note: The device only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks.
  8. The app will begin searching for and connecting to the device. Once connected, you can rename the device.

3. Adding Infrared Devices

After pairing the Smart IR Remote Control, you can add your infrared-controlled appliances.

  1. In the Smart Life app, select your newly added Smart IR Remote Control.
  2. Tap "Add Remote Control" and choose the type of device you want to add (e.g., TV, Air Conditioner, STB, DVD, Fan).
  3. Select the brand of your device from the list. The app has a vast database of infrared codes.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to test the remote functions. If the pre-programmed codes work, select "Select this one."
  5. If your device's brand is not listed or the pre-programmed codes do not work, you can use the DIY Learning Function. This allows the Smart IR Remote Control to learn signals directly from your original remote control.
  6. To use DIY Learning, select the "DIY" option or "Copy Button" within the device settings. Point your original remote at the Smart IR Remote Control (within 3cm) and press the desired button. The Smart IR Remote Control will learn and store this signal. Repeat for all necessary buttons.

Operating Instructions

Once your devices are added, you can control them using the Smart Life app or voice commands.

1. App Control

2. Voice Control (Alexa & Google Assistant)

Integrate your Smart IR Remote Control with voice assistants for hands-free control.

  1. Enable the "Smart Life" skill/service in your Alexa or Google Assistant app.
  2. Link your Smart Life account to your Alexa/Google Assistant account.
  3. Discover devices within the Alexa/Google Assistant app. Your IR-controlled devices added in Smart Life will appear as scenes or controllable devices.
  4. Use voice commands such as "Alexa, turn on the TV" or "Hey Google, set the air conditioner to 22 degrees."
  5. Siri voice control is also available on iPhone devices.

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your FRANKEVER Smart IR Remote Control, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Smart IR Remote Control, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Device not connecting to Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. This device does not support 5GHz networks.
  • Check that the Wi-Fi password entered in the app is correct.
  • Make sure the device is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
  • Reset the device by holding the button until the indicator blinks rapidly, then try pairing again.
IR signal not working or device not responding.
  • Ensure the Smart IR Remote Control has a clear line of sight to the appliance. Obstructions can block IR signals.
  • Verify that the correct device type and brand are selected in the Smart Life app.
  • If using the DIY Learning Function, ensure the original remote was pointed correctly at the Smart IR device during learning and that the buttons were pressed firmly. Re-learn the signals if necessary.
  • Confirm the appliance is IR-controlled. This device does not control RF (Radio Frequency) devices.
Voice control not working.
  • Ensure the "Smart Life" skill is enabled and linked correctly in your Alexa or Google Assistant app.
  • Redo device discovery in your voice assistant app.
  • Check your voice commands for accuracy.
