4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Pre-Installation Checklist
- Ensure your existing ball valve has a long lever handle as shown in the product images.
- Verify the pipe size is compatible (1/2", 3/4", or 1" lever valves). 1.5" valves are not supported.
- Confirm a stable 2.4GHz WiFi network is available at the installation location.
- Have patience, as proper alignment is crucial for optimal performance.
4.2 Installation Steps
- Position the Controller: Place the smart valve controller over your existing ball valve. Ensure the controller's output shaft aligns precisely with the valve's lever handle.
- Secure the Brackets: Use the provided DN20 bracket or the adjustable bracket to firmly secure the controller to the pipe. Adjust the bracket manually to fit your specific pipe. Good alignment is essential for the device to apply sufficient torque to the valve.
- Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the controller and then into a standard electrical outlet.
- Initial Test (Manual): Before app pairing, you can manually test the valve's movement by gently assisting the lever if it's a harder-to-turn valve.

6. Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature range (-10°C to 50°C). Prevent the pipe from freezing, as this can damage both the pipe and the valve.
- Check Connections: Periodically inspect the power connection and the physical attachment of the controller to the valve and pipe to ensure they remain secure.
- Valve Condition: The controller relies on the smooth operation of your existing ball valve. If your valve becomes stiff or difficult to turn manually, it may affect the controller's performance. Consider lubricating or servicing your valve if needed.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not connect to App. | Incorrect WiFi password; Not 2.4GHz WiFi; Device not in pairing mode; Weak WiFi signal. | Ensure correct password. Connect to a 2.4GHz network. Press and hold button until LED flashes quickly. Move device closer to router or use a WiFi extender. |
| Valve does not open/close fully or struggles. | Poor alignment with valve lever; Valve is too stiff; Insufficient torque for valve. | Re-align the controller and valve lever for perfect leverage. Ensure brackets are tightly secured. Manually operate the valve to check for stiffness; lubricate or service if necessary. The device may not be suitable for extremely hard-to-turn valves. |
| Device loses power and does not return to desired state. | App setting for power return is not configured. | In the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" app, navigate to the device settings and adjust the "Restart status" option (e.g., close, open, or keep last status). |
| Voice control not working. | Skill not enabled; Incorrect device name; Voice assistant not linked to app. | Ensure "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" skill is enabled in your Alexa/Google Home app. Verify the device name used in voice commands matches the app. Re-link your voice assistant account to the app if necessary. |
