Setup

1. Blade Installation (SURELOCK System)

The RYOBI RJS-850KA5 features a SURELOCK blade replacement system for quick and secure blade changes. Ensure the tool is unplugged from the power source before proceeding.

1. Locate the blade clamp lever on the front of the jigsaw.
2. Push the blade clamp lever to the open position.
3. Insert the shank of the desired jigsaw blade into the blade clamp opening. Ensure the teeth of the blade are facing forward.
4. Push the blade in until it clicks into place. The SURELOCK system provides a good positioning indicator for greater safety.
5. Release the blade clamp lever. Gently pull on the blade to ensure it is securely seated.
6. To remove a blade, push the blade clamp lever to the open position and pull the blade out.

2. Power Connection

Connect the jigsaw's power cord to a suitable electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the tool's requirements (230V). The tool is corded electric and does not require batteries.

Operating Instructions

Before operating, ensure the workpiece is securely clamped. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Variable Speed Control

The jigsaw features a centred speed control dial, allowing you to adjust the blade speed from 500 to 3100 RPM. Select a lower speed for harder materials like steel or for more precise cuts, and a higher speed for softer materials like wood. Adjust the speed according to the material and the type of cut required.

Pendulum Movement (Orbital Action)

The pendulum action allows the blade to move in an orbital motion in addition to its up-and-down stroke, which can increase cutting speed and efficiency, especially in wood. The RJS-850KA5 offers 4 pendulum settings:

• Setting 0: No pendulum action (straight cut). Ideal for fine cuts, metal, and plastics.
• Settings 1-3: Increasing levels of pendulum action. Higher settings are suitable for faster, rougher cuts in wood.

Adjust the pendulum setting using the lever on the side of the tool, depending on the material and desired cut quality.

Angled Cuts (Bevel Cutting)

The base plate of the jigsaw can be angled from 0° to 45° for bevel cuts. To adjust the angle:

1. Unplug the tool.
2. Loosen the screws that secure the base plate.
3. Tilt the base plate to the desired angle (indicated by markings).
4. Tighten the screws securely to lock the base plate in position.

Integrated LED Lighting

The jigsaw is equipped with an integrated LED light that illuminates the cutting line, providing better visibility of the work area, especially in dimly lit conditions. This enhances precision during operation.

AIRFOWARD Blower

The AIRFOWARD blower system directs air towards the cutting line, clearing sawdust and debris to maintain a clear view of your cut. This feature helps in achieving more accurate cuts and prevents dust from returning to the user.

GripZone Handle

The honeycomb GripZone handle is designed for improved ergonomics, allowing for a better and more comfortable hold during extended use, reducing user fatigue.

Retractable Cutting Guide

The retractable cutting guide simplifies use by assisting in straight cuts. Extend it when needed for guidance and retract it when not in use.

Maintenance
