This manual provides essential information on how to set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot your watch to ensure its longevity and optimal performance.

Setup
Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Upon receiving your Breitling Avenger, carefully remove it from its packaging. Inspect the watch for any visible damage. Ensure all protective films are removed from the crystal, case, and bracelet/strap.

Winding the Watch
Your Breitling Avenger is equipped with an automatic movement. While it winds itself with the motion of your wrist, it is recommended to manually wind it if it has stopped or if you haven't worn it for an extended period. To wind:
- Unscrew the crown (located at 3 o'clock) counter-clockwise until it pops out to position 1.
- Turn the crown clockwise approximately 40 times. This will build up a sufficient power reserve.
- Push the crown back in and screw it down clockwise to ensure water resistance.
Setting the Time and Date
- Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it pops out to position 1.
- Pull the crown out to position 2 (first click) to set the date. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the correct date appears.
- Pull the crown out to position 3 (second click) to set the time. The seconds hand will stop. Turn the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure you differentiate between AM and PM for the date change.
- Once the time and date are set, push the crown back in to position 1 and screw it down clockwise firmly against the case to maintain water resistance.

Strap Adjustment
The watch comes with a blue military leather band with a tang clasp. Adjust the strap by feeding the end through the buckle and securing the tang in the appropriate hole for a comfortable fit. Ensure the strap is not too tight, which can restrict circulation, or too loose, which can cause the watch to slide around.

Operating the Chronograph
The chronograph function allows you to measure elapsed time. It operates independently of the main time display.
- Start: Press the upper pusher (at 2 o'clock) to start the chronograph seconds hand.
- Stop: Press the upper pusher again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time can be read from the central chronograph seconds hand and the chronograph subdials (30-minute counter at 12 o'clock, 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock).
- Reset: After stopping, press the lower pusher (at 4 o'clock) to reset all chronograph hands to zero. The chronograph must be stopped before it can be reset.
Using the Uni-directional Rotating Bezel
The uni-directional rotating bezel can be used to measure elapsed time up to 60 minutes. It is particularly useful for diving or timing events where a countdown or elapsed time measurement is needed.
- Align the zero marker on the bezel with the minute hand at the start of the event.
- As time passes, the minute hand will indicate the elapsed time against the bezel's scale.
- The bezel rotates only counter-clockwise to prevent accidental increases in measured time, which is a crucial safety feature for divers.
Maintenance
Cleaning Your Watch
To maintain the appearance of your watch, clean the case and metal bracelet (if applicable) regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the watch is water-resistant, you can rinse it under lukewarm tap water after exposure to saltwater or chlorine, ensuring the crown is fully screwed down.
Water Resistance
Your Breitling Avenger Chronograph is water-resistant to 300 meters (1000 feet). This makes it suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not saturation diving. Always ensure the crown and pushers are fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water. Water resistance is not a permanent characteristic and may be affected by aging gaskets or accidental impacts. It is recommended to have the water resistance checked annually by an authorized service center.
Service and Storage
For optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended to have your Breitling watch serviced every 3-5 years by an authorized Breitling service center. When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box is ideal for storage.

Troubleshooting
Watch Not Running or Losing Time
- Insufficient Power Reserve: If the watch has stopped or is losing time, it may not have enough power reserve. Manually wind the watch by unscrewing the crown and turning it clockwise approximately 40 times. Wear the watch regularly to keep it wound.
- Impact or Magnetism: A strong impact or exposure to strong magnetic fields can affect the watch's accuracy. If winding does not resolve the issue, consult an authorized service center.
Date Not Changing Correctly
- Ensure the time is set correctly, especially distinguishing between AM and PM. The date typically changes around midnight.
- Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement's date mechanism. If you need to set the date during this period, first set the time outside this window, adjust the date, then reset the time.
If you notice condensation or water droplets inside the crystal, immediately take the watch to an authorized Breitling service center. Do not attempt to dry it yourself, as this can cause further damage.
