1. Introduction

4.4 Remote Control

5. Setup

5.1 Physical Connection

  1. Connect Satellite Cable: Connect the satellite cable from your dish to the SAT IN port on the rear of the decoder.
  2. Connect to TV: Use an HDMI cable (recommended for HD quality) to connect the HDMI port on the decoder to an HDMI input on your television. Alternatively, use a SCART cable for older TVs.
  3. Insert Smartcard: Before powering on, gently insert the Tivusat Smartcard into the side Smart Card reader with the chip facing down and towards the decoder. Make sure to note down the card number before inserting it.
  4. Connect Power: Connect the external power supply to the DC IN 12V 1.5A port on the decoder, then plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.

5.2 Initial Configuration

  1. Power On: Turn on your TV and the decoder. Select the correct HDMI or SCART input on your TV.
  2. Language Selection: The decoder will display an initial setup screen. Select your preferred language using the remote control and press OK.
  3. Channel Search: Follow the on-screen prompts to perform an automatic channel search. The default settings are usually sufficient.

5.3 Tivusat Smartcard Activation

To access Tivusat channels, your Smartcard must be activated. This process typically requires an Italian fiscal code. If you do not have one, activation may not be possible in certain regions like Belgium.

  1. Prepare Information: Have your Tivusat Smartcard number (printed on the back of the card) and your Italian fiscal code readily available.
  2. Online Activation: While the decoder is searching for channels, visit the official Tivusat website and navigate to the card activation section.
  3. Enter Details: Follow the instructions on the website to enter your Smartcard number and fiscal code. Ensure all details are correct to avoid activation errors.
  4. Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email. Click the link in the email and follow any further instructions on the website.
  5. Channel Decryption: Once the activation is complete and confirmed, the channels on your decoder should decrypt within approximately 10 minutes. If you see an "Encrypted Channel" message, wait a few minutes or try changing channels.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic TV Viewing

  • Channel Selection: Use the CH+ / CH- buttons on the remote control to change channels. You can also enter the channel number directly using the numeric keypad.
  • Volume Control: Use the VOL+ / VOL- buttons to adjust the volume.
  • Mute: Press the MUTE button to temporarily silence the audio.

6.2 Electronic Program Guide (EPG)

Press the EPG button on your remote control to access the Electronic Program Guide. This displays program schedules for current and upcoming broadcasts, allowing you to plan your viewing.

6.3 PVR and Timeshift Functions

The decoder supports Personal Video Recording (PVR) and Timeshift functions, allowing you to record programs and pause live TV. A USB storage device (not included) must be connected to the USB port for these functions to work.

  • Recording: While watching a program, press the REC button on the remote to start recording. You can also schedule recordings via the EPG.
  • Timeshift (Live Pause): Press the PAUSE button during live TV to pause the broadcast. Press PLAY to resume from where you left off.

    • If using the 2-in-1 function, ensure it is correctly programmed for your TV.
  • Slow Performance / Channel Changing:
    • Try restarting the decoder by unplugging it from the power outlet for a minute and then plugging it back in.
    • Check for available software updates.
  • SOS Button:
