1. Product Overview

The ALINCO DJ-VX50HE is a robust VHF/UHF FM portable transceiver designed for reliable communication. 2. Setup Guide

2.1. Battery Installation

1. Ensure the transceiver is powered off.
2. Align the battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the transceiver.
3. Gently slide the battery pack into place until it clicks securely.

2.2. Antenna Attachment

1. Locate the antenna connector on the top of the transceiver.
2. Screw the provided antenna clockwise onto the connector until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

2.3. Belt Clip Attachment

1. Identify the screw holes on the back of the transceiver, typically above the battery compartment.
2. Position the belt clip over these holes and secure it with the provided screws.

2.4. Charging the Battery

1. Connect the AC adapter to the charging cradle.
2. Place the transceiver (with battery installed) into the charging cradle.
3. Ensure the charging indicator light on the cradle illuminates, indicating proper charging.
4. A full charge typically takes several hours. Refer to the indicator light for charge status.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Power On/Off and Volume Control

1. To power on, rotate the top-mounted power/volume knob clockwise until you hear a click and the display illuminates.
2. To adjust volume, continue rotating the same knob. Clockwise increases volume, counter-clockwise decreases it.
3. To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.

3.2. Frequency and Channel Selection

1. Direct Frequency Input: Use the numeric keypad to enter desired frequencies directly.
2. Channel Mode: Press the 'VFO/MR' button to switch between VFO (Variable Frequency Oscillator) mode for direct frequency input and Memory Recall (MR) mode for stored channels.
3. Channel Navigation: In MR mode, use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to scroll through programmed memory channels.

3.3. Dual-Band Operation

The DJ-VX50HE supports dual-band operation (VHF/UHF). Use the 'BAND' button to switch between the VHF and UHF bands. The display will indicate the active band.

3.4. VOX Function (Voice Operated Transmit)

The VOX function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the transceiver will automatically transmit when it detects your voice. Refer to the menu settings to enable/disable VOX and adjust its sensitivity.
