  • Safety Goggles
  • Screwdrivers (Phillips & Flat Head)
  • Hand Hacksaw or PVC Cutter
  • Wrench
  • PVC Primer
  • PVC Cement
  • Thread Tape
  • 1-1/4 in. or 1-1/2 in. Discharge Pipe
  • 1-1/4 in. or 1-1/2 in. Check Valve
  • 1-1/4 in. or 1-1/2 in. 90° Elbow

4.2 Sump Basin Requirements

The pump requires a minimum 18-inch diameter sump basin for proper operation of the tethered float switch.

4.3 Discharge Pipe Connection

  1. Connect a 1-1/2 inch FNPT discharge pipe to the pump's outlet. Use thread tape on the pipe threads to ensure a watertight seal.
  2. Install a check valve in the discharge line to prevent water from flowing back into the sump basin when the pump turns off.
  3. Route the discharge pipe away from the foundation to prevent water recirculation.

4.4 Electrical Connection

  1. Ensure the power supply is 115 Volts, AC.
  2. Plug the pump's 8.25 ft. power cord into a properly grounded 3-prong GFCI outlet. Do not use extension cords.
  3. Ensure the power cord is routed to prevent damage and does not interfere with the float switch operation.

4.5 Float Switch Adjustment

The tethered float switch must be able to move freely without obstruction. Adjust the tether length to set the desired ON and OFF levels for the pump. Ensure the float does not touch the sides of the sump basin or any pipes.

5. Operation

The Everbilt sump pump operates automatically via its tethered float switch. When water in the sump basin rises and lifts the float to the 'ON' position, the pump will activate and begin discharging water. Once the water level drops and the float returns to the 'OFF' position, the pump will shut off. This pump features a continuous duty, efficient 115-Volt PSC motor.

5.1 Initial Start-Up

After installation, fill the sump basin with water to verify the float switch activates the pump and that water is discharged correctly. Check for any leaks in the discharge piping.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your sump pump.

  1. Monthly Inspection: Periodically check the sump basin for debris that could obstruct the pump or float switch. Remove any dirt, gravel, or other foreign objects.
  2. Float Switch Check: Manually lift the float switch to ensure it moves freely and activates the pump.
  3. Impeller Cleaning: If the pump's performance decreases, disconnect power and inspect the semi-open thermoplastic impeller for clogs. Clear any debris carefully.
  4. Discharge Line: Ensure the discharge line is free of obstructions and that the check valve is functioning correctly.
  5. Power Cord: Inspect the power cord for any signs of damage or wear. Replace if necessary.
