1. Introduction

The HENEX HC-3208R is a versatile wireless barcode scanner designed for efficient data capture in various environments such as laptops, stores, supermarkets, and warehouses. It supports both 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR codes, and offers flexible connection and upload options.

  • 2-in-1 Connection: Supports both wireless (2.4G) and wired (USB) connection methods. Plug and play functionality means no driver installation is required. Note: This device does not support Bluetooth connection.
  • Long Battery Life: Equipped with a built-in 2200mAh battery, providing up to 12 hours of continuous scanning. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours using the included USB charging cable.
  • Dual Upload Modes: Features an Instant Upload Mode for real-time data transmission and a Storage Mode for offline data collection, capable of storing up to 1,500,000 barcode entries.
  • Extensive Decoding Capability: Easily scans most 1D, 2D, and QR barcodes from paper labels or digital screens. Supported formats include EAN, UPC, Code 39, Code 128, DataMatrix, PDF417, Aztec, Maxicode, and Hanxin. It can also read special barcodes such as color, blurred, and damaged codes.
  • Durable Construction: Manufactured with environmentally friendly ABS material and a protective silicone sleeve, ensuring the scanner remains functional even after falls from up to 2.0 meters (6.56 feet).

2. Setup

2.1 Charging the Scanner

Before initial use, fully charge the scanner using the provided USB charging cable and a 5V/1A power adapter. This ensures optimal performance.

2.2 Connecting the Scanner

The HC-3208R offers two primary connection methods: wireless via a 2.4G USB dongle and wired via a USB cable.

2.2.1 Wireless Connection (2.4G)

  1. Insert the 2.4G USB dongle into an available USB port on your computer (PC or laptop).
  2. Turn on the barcode scanner. It will automatically pair with the dongle. A successful connection is indicated by a specific sound or light indicator on the scanner.
  3. Open a text editor or application where you want the scanned data to appear.

2.2.2 Wired Connection (USB)

  1. Connect the scanner to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  2. The scanner will function as a wired device, and data will be transmitted directly to your computer.

The scanner is compatible with operating systems such as Windows, Android, and Linux.

3. Operating the Scanner

3.1 Supported Barcode Types

The HC-3208R scanner is capable of reading a wide range of 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR codes, from various surfaces including paper and digital screens.

3.2 Upload Modes

The scanner features two distinct modes for uploading scanned data:

  • Instant Upload Mode: Barcodes are transmitted to your computer immediately after scanning.
  • Storage Mode: Scanned barcodes are stored in the scanner's built-in flash memory. This mode is ideal for environments where the scanner is far from the wireless receiver. Data can be uploaded to the computer later when needed. The scanner can store up to 1,500,000 barcode entries.

3.3 Scan Modes

The scanner supports different scanning activation methods:

  • Manual Scan Mode: Press the trigger button to activate the scan beam for each barcode.
  • Auto Sensing Mode: The scanner automatically detects a barcode within its field of view and activates the scan beam without needing to press the trigger.
  • Continuous Scan Mode: The scan beam remains active continuously, allowing for rapid scanning of multiple barcodes without repeatedly pressing the trigger.

3.4 Data Customization

The scanner allows for customization of scanned data, including adding prefixes/suffixes, date/time stamps, and special characters.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Durability and Care

The HC-3208R is built with an anti-shock, shatterproof construction, utilizing environmentally friendly ABS material and a silicone sleeve. This design helps maintain its functionality even after accidental drops.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Scanner not connecting: Ensure the USB dongle is securely inserted into your computer or the USB cable is properly connected. Verify the scanner is powered on and fully charged.
  • No data output after scanning: Check if the scanner is successfully paired (for wireless mode) or connected (for wired mode). Ensure the cursor is active in the target application on your computer.
  • Poor scanning performance: Clean the scanner's reading window. Ensure the barcode is not excessively damaged, blurred, or poorly printed. Adjust the distance and angle of the scanner to the barcode.
  • Battery not charging: Confirm the USB charging cable is correctly connected to both the scanner and a functional 5V/1A power adapter.
