1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using the appliance. Keep this manual for future reference.

• Ensure the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to your mains voltage before connecting.

2. Product Overview

The Ariete 1318 Espresso Machine is designed to prepare authentic espresso and creamy cappuccinos at home. It features an integrated coffee grinder, a milk frother, and options for 1 or 2 cups.

3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present: main unit, portafilter, 1-cup filter, 2-cup filter, measuring scoop/tamper, and instruction manual.

3.2 Initial Cleaning

• Wash the water tank, portafilter, filter baskets, and drip tray with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
• Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

3.3 Filling the Water Tank

Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level indicator. Replace the tank securely.

3.4 Priming the Machine

1. Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet.
2. Place a container under the steam wand and another under the brewing head.
3. Press the power button to turn on the machine. The indicator lights will flash as the machine heats up.
4. Once the lights are solid, turn the steam knob to release water through the steam wand for about 30 seconds. Close the knob.
5. Press the 1-cup brew button to dispense water through the brewing head for about 30 seconds. Stop the flow.
6. The machine is now primed and ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Grinding Coffee Beans

Open the lid of the bean hopper and fill it with fresh coffee beans. Adjust the grind setting if necessary (finer for espresso). The machine will grind the beans directly into the portafilter when activated.

4.2 Making Espresso

1. Ensure the water tank is filled.
2. Insert the desired filter basket (1-cup or 2-cup) into the portafilter.
3. If using whole beans, place the portafilter under the grinder outlet and activate the grinder to fill the basket with freshly ground coffee. If using pre-ground coffee, use the measuring scoop to add the appropriate amount to the filter basket.
4. Tamp the coffee grounds firmly and evenly using the tamper. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
5. Insert the portafilter into the brewing head and turn it to the right until it is securely locked.
6. Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray under the portafilter spouts.
7. Press the 1-cup or 2-cup brew button. The machine will start brewing espresso.
8. Press the brew button again to stop the flow once the desired amount of espresso is dispensed.

4.3 Frothing Milk

1. Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (do not fill more than one-third).
2. Press the steam button. The indicator light will flash and then become solid when the machine reaches steaming temperature.
3. Position the steam wand into the milk, just below the surface.
4. Turn the steam knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
5. Once the milk is frothed to your desired consistency and temperature, turn off the steam knob and remove the pitcher.
6. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

4.4 Hot Water Dispensing

To dispense hot water for teas or infusions, ensure the machine is heated. Place a cup under the steam wand, then turn the steam knob to release hot water.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

• Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard the coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under hot water.
• Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily.
• Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge a small amount of steam to clear any internal milk residue.
• Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.

5.2 Descaling

Descale the machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines, following the product's instructions. Always rinse the machine thoroughly with several cycles of fresh water after descaling.

5.3 Grinder Cleaning
