4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Installing the M.2 NVMe SSD into the Adapter

  1. Unscrew the four small screws on the back panel of the adapter using the provided screwdriver. Carefully remove the back panel.
  2. Locate the small fastening screw inside the adapter. This screw holds the M.2 SSD in place. Unscrew it by about half a turn to loosen it. This screw can be relocated to different holes to accommodate various M.2 SSD lengths (2230, 2242, 2260, 2280). Adjust its position if necessary for your SSD size.
  3. Carefully insert your M.2 NVMe SSD into the M.2 slot on the adapter at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Gently push the SSD down until it is flat against the adapter board. Secure it by tightening the small fastening screw. Do not overtighten.
  5. Peel off one side of the protective film from the thermal pad and place it onto the NVMe SSD. Smooth it out to ensure good contact. Then, remove the remaining protective film.
  6. Place the aluminum heatsink over the SSD, ensuring it aligns with the thermal pad.
  7. Reattach the back panel and secure it with the four small screws.

4.2. Installing the Adapter Card into a PCIe Slot

  1. Power off your computer and disconnect all cables. Open your computer case.
  2. Locate an available PCIe x4, x8, or x16 slot on your motherboard. Consult your motherboard's manual to identify suitable slots and ensure they support NVMe functionality.
  3. Remove any bracket covers from the chosen PCIe slot on your computer case.
  4. Align the adapter card with the PCIe slot. Gently push the adapter card down into the slot until it is fully seated and you hear a click, indicating it is locked in place.
  5. Secure the adapter card to the computer case with a screw if your case provides a mounting point.
  6. Close your computer case, reconnect all cables, and power on your computer.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, your operating system should detect the new NVMe SSD. You may need to initialize and format the drive through your operating system's disk management utility before it can be used for storage. Refer to your operating system's documentation for instructions on disk management.

The adapter facilitates high-speed data transfer over the PCIe lanes, allowing your NVMe SSD to operate at its optimal performance, provided the motherboard's PCIe slot supports the required bandwidth (e.g., PCIe Gen4 for Gen4 NVMe SSDs).

6. Maintenance

The included aluminum heatsink and thermal pad are designed to dissipate heat from the NVMe SSD, ensuring stable performance and longevity. No specific ongoing maintenance is required beyond ensuring proper airflow within your computer case.
