5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network

  1. After the adapter is successfully installed, click on the Wi-Fi icon in your computer's system tray (Windows) or menu bar (macOS/Linux).
  2. A list of available wireless networks will appear. Select your desired network (SSID).
  3. If the network is secured, enter the Wi-Fi password (security key) and click "Connect".
  4. Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon will indicate a successful connection, and you can access the internet.

5.2. Dual-Band Functionality

The WU1300S supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands:

  • 2.4GHz Band: Offers wider coverage and better penetration through walls, suitable for general internet use and older devices. Speeds up to 400Mbps.
  • 5GHz Band: Provides faster speeds and less interference, ideal for bandwidth-intensive applications like online gaming and HD streaming. Speeds up to 867Mbps.

You can choose the appropriate band based on your network setup and usage needs. Many modern routers broadcast both bands with different SSIDs (e.g., "MyWiFi_2.4G" and "MyWiFi_5G").

The Soft-AP mode allows the WU1300S to function as a Wi-Fi hotspot, sharing your wired internet connection with other wireless devices. This feature is typically available on Windows operating systems.

  1. Ensure your computer is connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open the utility software provided with the Cudy adapter (or use Windows built-in Mobile Hotspot feature).
  3. Enable Soft-AP mode and configure the network name (SSID) and password for your new hotspot.
  4. Other devices can now connect to your computer's shared internet connection.

6. Maintenance

  • Driver Updates: Periodically check the Cudy official website for updated drivers. Keeping your drivers current can improve performance and stability, especially after operating system updates.
  • Physical Care: Keep the adapter clean and free from dust. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture.
  • Safe Removal: Always safely remove the USB adapter from your computer when not in use to prevent data corruption or damage.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Solution
Adapter not detected or not working.
  • Ensure the adapter is fully inserted into the USB port.
  • Try a different USB port.
  • Reinstall the drivers.
  • Restart your computer.

  • Verify the Wi-Fi password is correct.
  • Ensure your router is powered on and broadcasting.
  • Try restarting your router.
  • Check if other devices can connect to the network.
Slow Wi-Fi speed or frequent disconnections.
  • Move closer to your Wi-Fi router.
  • Ensure there are no major obstructions (thick walls, large metal objects) between the adapter and the router.
  • Try connecting to the 5GHz band if available and your router supports it.
  • Update your adapter drivers and router firmware.
  • Check for interference from other electronic devices.
Linux driver issues after OS updates.

Some Linux distributions may remove or invalidate drivers after system updates. If this occurs, you may need to re-run the driver installation commands (e.g., sudo make and sudo make install) from the driver source directory, then reboot your system.
