3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Tools Required

• Pencil
• Measuring Tape
• Drill with 2.5mm (for timber) and 5mm (for hardwall) drill bits
• Screwdriver (Phillips head recommended)
• Level

3.2 Mounting Instructions

The EasyBaby Retractable Gate can be installed at the top or bottom of stairways, in doorways, or hallways. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

1. Determine Placement: Choose the desired location for your gate. Ensure the mounting surfaces are rigid and structurally sound. The gate extends up to 71 inches wide and is 39.3 inches tall.
2. Position Main Unit: Hold the main gate unit (the side with the retractable mesh) against the wall at the desired height. Use the provided installation guide template to mark the screw holes for the main mounting brackets. Ensure the unit is level.
3. Address Baseboards: If you have skirting boards or baseboards, use the appropriate wall spacers to ensure the main unit and catch mounts are flush with the wall above the baseboard. This ensures proper gate operation and stability.
4. Drill Pilot Holes: For timber surfaces, drill 2.5mm pilot holes. For hardwall surfaces, drill 5mm holes.
5. Secure Main Unit: Attach the main mounting brackets to the wall using the stainless steel screws. Then, slide the retractable gate unit onto these brackets.
6. Position Catch Mounts: Extend the mesh across the opening to the opposite wall. Hold the catch mounts in place, ensuring the mesh is taut and level. Mark the screw holes for the catch mounts using the template.
7. Secure Catch Mounts: Drill pilot holes as per step 4 and secure the catch mounts to the wall using the stainless steel screws.
8. Test Installation: Fully extend and retract the gate several times to ensure smooth operation and secure locking.

4. Operating the Gate

The EasyBaby Retractable Gate is designed for one-handed operation.

1. To Unlock and Open: Locate the locking knob on the main gate unit. Push down and turn the knob clockwise to unlock the gate.
2. Extend the Gate: Grasp the gate handle and pull the mesh across the opening. Hook the handle securely onto the catch mounts on the opposite side.
3. To Lock the Gate: Once the handle is hooked, push down and turn the locking knob counter-clockwise to secure the gate in the closed position.
4. To Retract the Gate: Push down and turn the locking knob clockwise to unlock. Unhook the handle from the catch mounts. The mesh will automatically retract into the main unit.
