1. Product Overview

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Package Contents

Before proceeding, ensure all items are present in the package:

  • Fanvil X6U IP Phone Unit
  • Handset and Handset Cord
  • Ethernet Cable
  • Power Adapter (if not using Power over Ethernet - PoE)
  • Desk Stand
  • Quick Installation Guide

2.2 Assembling the Phone

  1. Attach the Desk Stand: Align the tabs on the desk stand with the slots on the back of the phone unit. Push firmly until it clicks into place.
  2. Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset port on the side of the phone unit and the other end into the handset.
  3. Connect the Ethernet Cable:
    • Locate the "LAN" port on the back of the phone.
    • Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the "LAN" port and the other end to your network switch or router.
    • If you are connecting a PC through the phone, connect a second Ethernet cable from the "PC" port on the phone to your computer's Ethernet port.
  4. Connect the Power Adapter (if not using PoE): If your network does not provide Power over Ethernet (PoE), connect the power adapter to the "DC 12V" port on the back of the phone and then plug it into a power outlet.

2.3 Initial Power-On and Network Configuration

Once connected, the phone will power on automatically. It will attempt to obtain an IP address via DHCP. If your network requires static IP configuration or specific VLAN settings, these can be configured via the phone's web interface or through the phone's menu system (Menu > Advanced > Network).

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call:
    1. Pick up the handset, press the Speaker button, or press a Line key.
    2. Dial the number using the keypad.
    3. Press the Dial soft key or wait for a few seconds for the call to connect automatically.
  • To Answer a Call:
    • Pick up the handset, press the Speaker button, or press the flashing Line key.
  • To End a Call:
    • Hang up the handset or press the Speaker button.

3.2 Using DSS Keys (Direct Station Selection)

The Fanvil X6U features two 2.4-inch side color displays dedicated to DSS keys. These keys can be programmed for various functions such as speed dial, busy lamp field (BLF), intercom, and more. The LED indicators next to each DSS key provide visual status (e.g., green for available, red for busy).

  • Speed Dial: Press a pre-programmed DSS key to quickly dial a contact.
  • Busy Lamp Field (BLF): Observe the LED status next to a DSS key to see if an extension is busy (red), available (green), or ringing (flashing).
  • Call Pickup: If configured, press a flashing BLF key to pick up a ringing call on another extension.

3.3 Bluetooth Connectivity

The built-in Bluetooth allows you to connect wireless headsets for hands-free communication.

  1. Go to Menu > Basic > Bluetooth.
  2. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
  3. Select Scan to find available Bluetooth devices.
  4. Select your headset from the list and follow the on-screen prompts to pair.

3.4 Audio Features

  • Volume Adjustment: Use the volume keys (+ and -) on the phone to adjust the handset, speaker, or headset volume during a call, or the ringtone volume when idle.
  • Mute: Press the Mute button to mute your microphone during a call. Press again to unmute.
  • Speakerphone: Press the Speaker button to switch between handset/headset and speakerphone mode.

4. Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will extend the life of your Fanvil X6U IP Phone.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the phone's surface. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth with mild, non-abrasive cleaner can be used. Avoid excessive moisture.
  • Environment: Keep the phone away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive humidity. Ensure it is placed on a stable surface.
  • Cables: Periodically check all connected cables for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for firmware updates from the Fanvil official website. Updates can improve performance, add features, and fix bugs. Consult your IT administrator before performing updates in a corporate environment.

5. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Fanvil X6U IP Phone.
