4.3 Volume Control and Monitoring

The large central rotary encoder controls the main output volume. Pressing the input buttons (1 or 2) allows you to adjust the gain for individual channels. The Monitor Mix button enables direct monitoring, allowing you to hear your input signal with zero latency.

4.4 Audio Loop-back

The Audio Loop-back feature allows you to record audio from your computer simultaneously with your microphones. This is particularly useful for live streaming, podcasting with remote guests, or recording gameplay audio.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Audient EVO 4, try the following steps:

  • No Sound/Input Signal:
    • Ensure the EVO 4 is properly connected to your computer and powered on (LEDs should be illuminated).
    • Verify that the correct input and output devices are selected in your computer's sound settings and your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
    • Check cable connections for microphones, instruments, headphones, and speakers.
    • Confirm that input gains are set appropriately. Use Smartgain to automatically set levels.
    • If using a condenser microphone, ensure 48V phantom power is enabled.
  • Clipping/Distortion:
    • Reduce the input gain for the offending channel.
    • Re-run Smartgain to ensure optimal levels.
  • Software/Driver Issues:
    • Reinstall the latest drivers and EVO Control software from the Audient website.
    • Try connecting the EVO 4 to a different USB port or computer to rule out port/system specific issues.
  • Unusual Noises (e.g., RF interference, rattling):
    • Ensure all cables are properly shielded and securely connected.
    • Try isolating the unit from other electronic devices that might cause interference.
    • If a rattling noise is internal, contact support.
