2. Setup Instructions
The iDefender+ is designed for simple plug-and-play operation. Follow these steps to integrate it into your audio system:
2.1 Connecting the iDefender+
- Identify Connection Points: Locate the USB Type C port on your source device (e.g., computer, laptop) and the USB Type A input on your audio device (e.g., DAC, amplifier).
- Insert iDefender+: Plug the USB Type C male end of the iDefender+ directly into the USB Type C port of your source device.
- Connect Audio Device: Connect your audio device's USB Type A cable into the USB Type A female port of the iDefender+.

The iDefender+ will now act as an intelligent filter, breaking the ground loop and reducing noise.
2.2 Optional External Power Supply
For USB-powered audio devices that require a clean 5V power source, the iDefender+ includes a side USB Type C port. You can connect an iPower 5V power supply (sold separately) or another high-quality 5V power supply to this port. This provides additional noise filtration and ensures stable power delivery to your audio device.

Note: The iDefender+ is available in three connection versions: USB A input to A output, USB C input to C output, and USB C input to A output (this product). Ensure you have the correct version for your setup.
3. Operating Instructions
Once connected, the iDefender+ operates automatically. It intelligently breaks DC ground loops to eliminate low-frequency hum and buzz, while safely retaining EMI shielding. The device supports USB 3.0 high-speed data transfer, ensuring optimal signal transmission without compromising audio quality.

- Persistent Hum/Buzz: The iDefender+ is a solution for removing ground loops caused by multiple grounded devices in your audio chain. If the noise persists, it might indicate a different type of noise (e.g., EMI/RFI) or a missing earth connection.
- Diagnosing Audio Hiss: To determine the source of noise, touch a metal surface on your audio device while audio is playing. If the hum/hiss/buzz is reduced, it suggests a missing or no earth connection, which might require a different solution like the iFi Groundhog+. If the noise does not change, it indicates a loop from multiple earths, for which the iDefender+ is the intended solution.
