Setup
1. Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the second click position (position 3). The small second hand will stop.
- Turn the crown to advance the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set, especially when setting the date.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position (position 1). The small second hand will resume movement.
2. Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to the first click position (position 2).
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise (depending on the movement) until the correct date appears in the date window.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position (position 1).
Important: Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this may interfere with the date change mechanism. If you need to set the date during this period, first set the time outside this range, adjust the date, then reset the time.
Operating Instructions
Using the Chronograph
Your Pulsar PM3175X1 watch features a chronograph function for measuring elapsed time. The chronograph uses the large central second hand and the sub-dials at 9 o'clock (minutes) and 12 o'clock (1/10 seconds).
Standard Measurement:
- Press Pusher A to start the chronograph. The central chronograph second hand, minute sub-dial, and 1/10 second sub-dial will begin to move.
- Press Pusher A again to stop the chronograph. Read the elapsed time from the central second hand, the minute sub-dial, and the 1/10 second sub-dial.
- Press Pusher B to reset the chronograph. All chronograph hands will return to their zero positions.
Note: The 1/10 second sub-dial typically operates for the first 60 seconds of measurement and then stops to conserve battery, displaying the final 1/10 second reading only when the chronograph is stopped.
Accumulated Elapsed Time Measurement:
- Press Pusher A to start.
- Press Pusher A to stop (reading of elapsed time).
- Press Pusher A to restart (measurement resumes from where it stopped).
- Press Pusher A to stop (reading of total accumulated elapsed time).
- Press Pusher B to reset.
Split Time Measurement:
- Press Pusher A to start.
- Press Pusher B to measure split time (chronograph hands stop, allowing you to read the split time, but timing continues internally).
- Press Pusher B again to release split time (chronograph hands jump forward to catch up with the ongoing elapsed time).
- Press Pusher A to stop.
- Press Pusher B to reset.
Chronograph Hand Position Adjustment (Zero Reset)
If the chronograph hands do not return precisely to their zero positions after resetting, they can be adjusted:
- Pull the crown out to the second click position (position 3).
- Press Pusher A repeatedly to adjust the central chronograph second hand and the 1/10 second sub-dial hand until they align to the zero position.
- Press Pusher B repeatedly to adjust the chronograph minute sub-dial hand until it aligns to the zero position.
- Once all chronograph hands are aligned to the zero position, push the crown back in to the normal position (position 1).
Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and crystal regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For the nylon strap, a mild soap solution and soft brush can be used for cleaning, followed by thorough rinsing and air drying.
- Water Resistance: Your watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 BAR). This means it is suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Do NOT operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged, as this can compromise the water resistance. Avoid hot water, as rapid temperature changes can affect the seals.
- Temperature: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F) or sudden, drastic temperature changes.
- Chemicals: Avoid direct contact with chemicals such as gasoline, cleaning solvents, aerosol sprays, adhesives, paints, and cosmetics, as they can damage the watch's seals, case finish, and strap material.
- Shocks: While designed for durability, avoid strong impacts or dropping the watch, which can damage the internal movement or exterior components.
- Magnetism: Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., from speakers, refrigerators, or certain electronic devices), as they can affect the accuracy of the quartz movement.
- Battery Replacement: The watch is powered by a quartz movement and requires a battery. When the battery is low, the small second hand may start moving in two-second intervals (End-of-Life indicator). Replace the battery promptly by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch stops or runs erratically. | Low battery. | Replace the battery by a professional watch technician. |
| Date changes at noon instead of midnight. | AM/PM setting incorrect during time adjustment. | Advance the time by 12 hours. |
| Chronograph hands do not reset to zero. | Misalignment of chronograph hands. | Perform chronograph hand position adjustment as described in the "Operating Instructions" section. |
| Condensation inside the watch. | Exposure to extreme temperature changes or compromised water resistance. | Have the watch inspected by a qualified technician immediately to prevent damage. |
