3. Product Overview

The VT2000 docking station provides a comprehensive set of ports to enhance your productivity.

Front Panel Ports:

  • Power Indicator Light: Indicates power status.
  • 3.5mm Combo In/Out Audio Jack: For headphones or headsets.
  • USB 3.0 (5Gbps) Ports: Two USB-C ports and one USB-A port for high-speed data transfer and device connectivity.

4. System Requirements

To ensure optimal performance, your system must meet the following requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 7 | macOS 10.10 and later
  • Hardware Requirements:
    • USB-C Port with DisplayPort Alt Mode
    • USB-C Power Delivery Support
    • Up to 100W USB-C Power Supply for charging (Note: Power supply not included with the dock)
    • Host System must support DP 1.3 HBR3 for 2 displays @ 4K 30Hz.
    • Host System must support DP 1.3 and have onboard graphics that supports MST for 3 external displays at 1080p.

5. Setup

The VisionTek VT2000 is designed for simple plug-and-play functionality.

  1. Connect Power: Plug the external power adapter (not included) into the USB-C Power Supply port on the rear of the docking station and then into a wall outlet.
  2. Connect to Host: Use the provided USB-C to USB-C cable to connect the "USB-C to Host" port on the docking station to your laptop's USB-C port.
  3. Connect Peripherals: Attach your keyboard, mouse, external storage, and other USB devices to the available USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the front and rear panels.
  4. Connect Monitors: Connect your external monitors to the DisplayPort and HDMI outputs on the rear panel. Refer to the "Display Configuration & Resolutions" section for optimal setup.
  5. Network Connection: For a wired network connection, plug an Ethernet cable into the Gigabit Ethernet port on the rear panel.
  6. Audio Devices: Connect your headphones or headset to the 3.5mm combo audio jack on the front panel.

6. Operating

Once connected, your operating system should automatically detect the docking station and connected devices. No additional drivers are typically required for basic functionality.

  • Power On/Off: The docking station powers on automatically when connected to a powered laptop.
  • Display Modes: Utilize your laptop's display settings to configure extended, mirrored, or primary display modes across your connected monitors. The Multi-Stream Transport (MST) technology allows for flexible display arrangements.
  • Data Transfer: Use the USB 3.0 ports for high-speed data transfer with compatible devices.
  • Power Delivery: The USB-C Power Passthrough port delivers up to 85W to charge your laptop if connected to a compatible power supply.

7. Display Configuration & Resolutions

The VT2000 supports various display configurations and resolutions, depending on your host system's capabilities.

Note: Performance and maximum resolutions are dependent on host system's onboard video capabilities. macOS supports one external display extended up to 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz or one external display mirrored.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your VisionTek VT2000 docking station, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the docking station. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays, which may damage the device.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the docking station is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.

9. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the external power adapter is securely connected to the docking station and a working power outlet.
  • No Display:
    • Verify that the USB-C to Host cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the docking station.
    • Check that monitor cables (DisplayPort, HDMI) are firmly connected to both the docking station and the monitors.
    • Ensure your laptop's display settings are configured correctly for extended or mirrored displays.
    • Confirm your laptop supports DisplayPort Alt Mode via its USB-C port.
  • USB Devices Not Working:
    • Try connecting the USB device to a different USB port on the docking station.
    • Connect the USB device directly to your laptop to rule out device issues.
    • Ensure the docking station has sufficient power.
  • Ethernet Connection Issues:
    • Check the Ethernet cable connection to both the docking station and your router/modem.
    • Verify network settings on your laptop.
  • Audio Not Working:
    • Ensure your audio device is correctly plugged into the 3.5mm combo jack.
    • Check your laptop's audio output settings to ensure the docking station's audio is selected.
