2. Package Contents

3. Setup

3.1 Physical Setup

Attaching the Stand:

  1. Carefully remove the monitor and stand components from the packaging.
  2. Attach the stand base to the stand neck. Secure with the provided screw if applicable.
  3. Align the stand assembly with the mounting slot on the back of the monitor.
  4. Gently push the stand into the slot until it clicks into place or secure with screws as per the stand design.
  5. Place the assembled monitor on a stable, flat surface.

VESA Mounting:

The HKC MR17 monitor supports VESA 100x100 mm mounting standards. To mount the monitor on a wall or an articulated arm, remove the stand (if already attached) and use compatible VESA mounting hardware (sold separately).

3.2 Connecting Cables

Ensure the monitor and your computer are powered off before making any connections.

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the monitor's power input port and then to a power outlet.
  2. Video Connection (HDMI): Connect one end of an HDMI cable (not included) to the HDMI port on your computer's graphics card and the other end to the HDMI port on the monitor.
  3. Video Connection (VGA): Alternatively, connect the provided VGA cable to the VGA port on your computer and the VGA port on the monitor.
  4. Audio Connection (Optional): If your computer has an audio output and you wish to use the monitor's built-in speakers (if available) or an external audio system, connect an audio cable (not included) from your computer's audio output to the monitor's audio input.

Note: The monitor supports both HDMI and VGA inputs. Choose the appropriate connection for your device.

4. Operating the Monitor

4.1 Power On/Off

Press the power button, usually located on the bottom right or back of the monitor, to turn the monitor on or off. The power indicator light will illuminate when the monitor is on.

4.2 On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu

The OSD menu allows you to adjust various monitor settings. Use the control buttons (typically located on the bottom right or back of the monitor) to navigate the menu.

  • Press the Menu button to open the OSD menu.
  • Use the Up/Down or Left/Right buttons to navigate through menu options.
  • Press the Enter or Select button to confirm a selection or enter a sub-menu.
  • Press the Exit or Menu button again to close the OSD menu.

4.3 Input Selection

To switch between HDMI and VGA inputs:

  • Press the Input or Source button on the monitor.
  • Use the navigation buttons to select either HDMI or VGA.
  • Press Enter to confirm your selection.

4.4 Display Settings

Adjust the following settings via the OSD menu for optimal viewing:

  • Brightness: Adjust the overall luminance of the screen.
  • Contrast: Adjust the difference between light and dark areas of the image.
  • Color Temperature: Select a preset (e.g., Warm, Cool, User) or adjust RGB values manually.
  • Resolution: For best image quality, set your computer's display resolution to the monitor's native resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels.
  • Refresh Rate: The monitor supports a 60 Hz refresh rate. Ensure your computer's display settings are configured accordingly.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Monitor

To ensure a long lifespan and clear display, regular cleaning is recommended.

  • Always power off the monitor and unplug the power cord before cleaning.
  • Screen: Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or a specialized screen cleaning solution. Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.
  • Casing: Wipe the monitor casing with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.

5.2 Storage

If storing the monitor for an extended period, disconnect all cables, pack it in its original packaging (if available), and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
