4. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your NETGEAR Nighthawk AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 Router.
Step 1: Unpack and Position the Router
- Unpack the router and its components from the box.
- Place the router in a central location in your home, away from obstructions and electronic devices that might cause interference.
Step 2: Connect the Router to Your Modem
- Power off your modem. If it has a battery backup, remove the battery.
- Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the yellow Internet port on the back of your RAX35 router.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your modem.
- Reconnect the battery (if applicable) and power on your modem. Wait for the modem to fully boot up and establish an internet connection (this may take a few minutes).
Step 3: Power On the Router
- Connect the power adapter to the power input on the router and plug it into a power outlet.
- Press the Power On/Off button.
- Wait for the Power LED on the front of the router to turn solid white. This indicates the router is ready.
Step 4: Connect to the Router and Complete Setup
You can set up your router using the Nighthawk app or a web browser.
Using the Nighthawk App (Recommended):
- Download the NETGEAR Nighthawk app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Open the Nighthawk app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your router. The app will guide you through connecting to the router's default Wi-Fi network and configuring your internet connection and Wi-Fi settings.
Using a Web Browser:
- Connect your computer or mobile device to the router's default Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password are printed on the label on the bottom of the router.
- Open a web browser and type
routerlogin.netor192.168.1.1in the address bar. - Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. You will be prompted to create an admin password and configure your Wi-Fi network name and password.
5. Operating Instructions
Once your router is set up, you can connect devices and manage your network.
Connecting Devices
Wired Connections:
Use Ethernet cables to connect devices like desktop computers, smart TVs, or gaming consoles to the gray Ethernet ports (1-4) on the back of the router for stable and high-speed connections.
Wireless Connections:
- On your wireless device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), open the Wi-Fi settings.
- Select your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) from the list of available networks.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted. This information is typically found on the router's label or was set during the initial setup.
- For quick connection without entering a password, press the WPS button on the router and then activate WPS on your device within two minutes.

Using the Nighthawk App:
The Nighthawk app provides a user-friendly interface for monitoring and managing your network from your mobile device. It allows you to view connected devices, run speed tests, and adjust various settings.
Using the Web Interface:
For advanced settings, access the router's web interface by opening a web browser on a connected device and navigating to routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1. Log in with your administrator username and password.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and security for your router.
Firmware Updates
Your router is configured for automatic firmware updates to ensure it has the latest security patches and features. You can also manually check for updates via the Nighthawk app or the router's web interface under the 'Advanced' or 'Administration' section.
Restarting the Router
Periodically restarting your router can resolve minor connectivity issues and improve performance. To restart, simply unplug the power adapter from the router, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in. Allow a few minutes for the router to fully boot up.
Cleaning
Keep the router clean and free of dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols directly on the router.
7. Troubleshooting

No Internet Connection
