1. Introduction

The Hamilton Beach FrontFill Deluxe 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker is easy to fill from the front with a FrontFill water reservoir and swing-open brew basket for coffee grounds. The no-drip design of the 12 cup carafe eliminates mess. It's made of borosilicate glass to be more durable. The nonstick finish makes the warming plate easy to wipe clean. The warming plate keeps coffee warm until you're ready for another cup. Please read all instructions carefully before first use and retain for future reference.

2. Important Safeguards

4. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack the Coffee Maker: Carefully remove all packaging materials, including any protective films or stickers. Ensure all components are present: coffee maker unit, glass carafe, and brew basket.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the glass carafe and brew basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  3. Position the Coffee Maker: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface near an electrical outlet. Ensure there is adequate clearance above the unit for the FrontFill reservoir and brew basket to open easily.
  4. Perform a Cleaning Cycle: Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the 12-cup mark. Place an empty paper filter in the brew basket. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the I/O button to start a full brewing cycle without coffee grounds. Discard the water from the carafe once complete. This helps to clean the internal components and remove any manufacturing residues.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Fill the Water Reservoir: Open the FrontFill water reservoir lid and pour fresh, cold water into the reservoir up to the desired number of cups indicated on the water level window. Close the lid securely.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Open the swing-open brew basket. Place a standard basket-style paper filter (not included) into the brew basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. Close the brew basket securely.
  3. Place Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe is empty and properly seated on the warming plate.
  4. Set Time (Optional): To set the current time, press the HOUR and MIN buttons until the correct time is displayed.
  5. Program Auto Brew (Optional):
    • Press the PROGRAM button. The display will show "PROGRAM".
    • Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the desired brew start time.
    • Press PROGRAM again to confirm. The programmed time will be saved.
  6. Select Brew Option: Press the BREW OPTIONS button repeatedly to cycle through the available brew strengths: REGULAR, BOLD, or 1-4 CUP. Select the option that suits your preference.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

  1. Daily Cleaning:

    • Remove the used paper filter and coffee grounds from the brew basket.
    • Wash the glass carafe and brew basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.

  2. Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):
    • Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker and affect its performance. The "CLEAN" indicator light will illuminate when descaling is recommended.
    • To descale, pour 1 pint (2 cups) of plain white vinegar into the water reservoir.
    • Place an empty paper filter in the brew basket and the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Press the CLEAN button (if available, otherwise run a regular brew cycle). Allow the cycle to complete.
    • After the cycle, discard the vinegar solution. Run 2-3 full cycles with fresh, cold water to rinse the coffee maker thoroughly.
