3. Setup
3.1 Connecting the Trackball Mouse
The ELECOM EX-G Trackball Mouse connects via a wired USB cable. No additional drivers are typically required for basic functionality on most operating systems.
- Locate an available USB port on your computer (PC or Mac).
- Plug the USB connector of the trackball mouse into the USB port.
- The computer should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers.

3.2 Installing ELECOM Mouse Assistant Software (Optional)
For advanced customization of buttons and pointer speed, install the ELECOM Mouse Assistant software. This software allows you to program the 5 buttons and adjust settings beyond standard operating system controls.

4. Operating the Trackball Mouse
4.1 Ergonomic Design
The EX-G mouse is designed to fit the natural curvature of the hand, reducing wrist and hand stress during prolonged use. The thumb-operated trackball allows for cursor movement without requiring arm or wrist movement.

4.2 Button Functions
The trackball mouse features several buttons for enhanced control:

- Left Click: Standard primary click function.
- Right Click: Standard secondary click function.
- Tilting Scroll Wheel: Allows for vertical scrolling and horizontal scrolling by tilting the wheel left or right.
- Back / Forward Buttons: Navigate web pages or folders.
- DPI Adjustment Switch: Toggle between two levels of DPI (Dots Per Inch) sensitivity (750 / 1500 count) to adjust cursor speed.
- Pointer Speed Reduction Switch: Temporarily slows down the pointer for precise movements when pressed.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Trackball
Regular cleaning of the trackball and its bearings is essential for smooth operation. Dust and debris can accumulate and affect tracking performance.
- Turn the mouse upside down.
- Locate the small hole on the bottom of the mouse, labeled "REMOVE HOLE".
- Use a pen or a similar thin object to push the trackball out through this hole.
- Once the trackball is removed, gently wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Clean the three small support bearings inside the trackball cavity with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure no lint is left behind.
- Reinsert the trackball into the cavity.

6. Troubleshooting
- Cursor not moving or erratic:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the mouse and the computer.
- Clean the trackball and its support bearings as described in the Maintenance section.
- Try connecting the mouse to a different USB port.
- Restart your computer.
- Buttons not responding:
- Verify that the ELECOM Mouse Assistant software is installed correctly if you are using custom button assignments.
- Test the mouse on another computer to determine if the issue is with the mouse or the computer's settings.
- DPI adjustment not working:
- Ensure you are pressing the correct DPI switch button.
- If using custom software, check the DPI settings within the ELECOM Mouse Assistant.
