Setup

1. Battery Installation

The Polar H9 sensor uses a CR2025 button cell battery. Ensure the battery is correctly installed before first use. If replacing, use only a CR2025 battery. Other battery sizes may cause damage or malfunction.

  1. Open the battery cover on the back of the sensor module by twisting it counter-clockwise with a coin.
  2. Insert the CR2025 battery with the positive (+) side facing upwards.
  3. Close the battery cover by twisting it clockwise until it is securely fastened.

2. Attaching the Sensor to the Strap

Snap the sensor module onto the two connectors on the chest strap. Ensure it is firmly attached.

3. Wearing the Heart Rate Sensor

For accurate heart rate measurement, the sensor must be worn correctly:

  1. Moisten the electrode areas on the back of the strap with water.
  2. Wrap the strap around your chest, just below your pectoral muscles.
  3. Fasten the hook to the loop on the other end of the strap.
  4. Adjust the strap length to ensure a snug but comfortable fit. The sensor should be centered on your chest.

Ensure the O-ring seal is properly seated to maintain water resistance.

Troubleshooting

  • No Heart Rate Reading:
    • Ensure the electrode areas on the strap are moistened.
    • Check that the sensor module is securely snapped onto the strap.
    • Verify the strap is worn correctly and snugly on your chest.
    • Check the battery level and replace if necessary.
    • Ensure your receiving device (phone, watch, gym equipment) is within range and Bluetooth/ANT+ is enabled.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the strap is clean and free of residue.
    • Re-moisten the electrodes if they dry out during exercise.
    • Avoid wearing the sensor over clothing that may interfere with electrical signals.
    • Interference from other electronic devices or strong electromagnetic fields can affect readings. Move away from such sources.
  • Connection Issues:
    • Try unpairing and re-pairing the sensor with your device.
    • Restart your receiving device.
    • Ensure no other devices are actively connected to the H9 sensor if you intend to use it with a specific device.
