4. Gameplay

The core objective of Monopoly for Sore Losers is to accumulate wealth and properties, but with a twist: losing events can be advantageous.

4.1. Player Turn

On your turn, roll both dice and move your token clockwise around the board the corresponding number of spaces. The action you take depends on the space you land on.

4.2. Earning Sore Loser Coins

Unlike traditional Monopoly, certain "losing" actions in this game reward you with Sore Loser coins. These actions include:

  • Paying Rent: When you land on an opponent's property and pay rent, you earn a Sore Loser coin.
  • Paying Taxes: Landing on Income Tax or Luxury Tax spaces and paying the amount earns you a Sore Loser coin.
  • Going to Jail: If you are sent to Jail, you earn a Sore Loser coin.
  • Going Bankrupt: If you go bankrupt, you earn a Sore Loser coin.

4.3. The Mr. Monopoly Token

When a player collects 4 Sore Loser coins, they can cash them in to receive the Mr. Monopoly token. This special token grants the player significant advantages:

  • The player replaces their regular token with the Mr. Monopoly token.
  • While using the Mr. Monopoly token, the player collects money instead of paying when landing on spaces that would normally require payment (e.g., rent, taxes).
  • The Mr. Monopoly token remains with the player until another player collects 4 Sore Loser coins and takes it from them.
