1. Setup

1.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove your bass guitar from its packaging. Inspect the instrument for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Ensure all components, including the fixed bridge and black hardware, are present and securely attached.

1.2 Battery Installation for Active Electronics

The SR300E features active electronics, which require a 9-volt battery for operation. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the instrument. Open the compartment and insert a fresh 9-volt battery, observing the correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.

Important: To prevent battery drain, always unplug your instrument cable from the bass when not in use. Leaving the cable plugged in will continuously draw power from the battery, leading to premature battery depletion.

1.3 Connecting to an Amplifier

Connect one end of a standard 1/4" instrument cable to the output jack on your bass guitar and the other end to the input of your bass amplifier. Ensure your amplifier is turned off or its volume is set to minimum before connecting or disconnecting the instrument.

1.4 Tuning the Instrument

Use an electronic tuner to accurately tune your bass guitar. The standard tuning for a 4-string bass is E-A-D-G (from thickest to thinnest string). Gently turn the tuning pegs to adjust the pitch of each string until the tuner indicates the correct note.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning

Regularly wipe down your bass with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after each use to remove sweat, fingerprints, and dust. For a deeper clean, use a guitar-specific cleaning solution on the body and hardware. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.

The Jatoba fretboard can be cleaned with a damp cloth and occasionally treated with a fretboard conditioner to prevent drying and cracking.

3.2 String Replacement

Strings should be replaced periodically, depending on usage, to maintain optimal tone and playability. Your SR300E comes with Nickel strings. When replacing, change one string at a time to maintain neck tension. Stretch new strings gently to help them settle and hold tune.

3.3 Battery Replacement

When the sound becomes weak or distorted, it is likely time to replace the 9-volt battery for the active electronics. Refer to section 1.2 for battery installation instructions. Always use a fresh alkaline 9-volt battery.

3.4 Storage

Store your bass guitar in a stable environment, away from extreme temperature changes or humidity fluctuations. A gig bag or hard case is recommended for protection during storage and transport.

4. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues not covered here or require professional assistance, contact an authorized Ibanez service center or a qualified guitar technician.
