Model: Resolute 12-60 (59430895SC)

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your AXA Resolute 12-60 Cable Lock. The AXA Resolute 12-60 is a lightweight and portable cable lock designed to offer quick and comfortable protection for bicycles in low to medium risk environments. It features a high-quality twisted steel cable, securely integrated with a combination locking mechanism, and protected by a thick vinyl sleeve to prevent damage and abrasion.

2. Safety Information

  • Ensure the lock is properly engaged before leaving your bicycle unattended.
  • Do not attempt to force the lock mechanism if it is stiff; apply a small amount of lubricant if necessary.
  • Keep the combination code confidential and store it in a safe place, separate from the lock.
  • Regularly inspect the cable and locking mechanism for any signs of wear or damage. Discontinue use if damage is observed.
  • This lock is designed for bicycle security. Do not use it for purposes other than its intended use.

4. Setting the Combination

Your AXA Resolute 12-60 Cable Lock comes with a preset combination, typically 0-0-0-0. Follow these steps to set your personal combination:

  1. Open the Lock: Align the preset combination (0-0-0-0) with the indicator marks and pull the cable head out of the locking mechanism.
  2. Rotate the Reset Knob: Inside the locking mechanism, locate a small knob or lever. Rotate it 90 degrees clockwise (or as indicated by an arrow) to the reset position.
  3. Set Your New Combination: With the knob in the reset position, set your desired 4-digit combination by rotating the number wheels. Choose a memorable but secure combination.
  4. Return the Reset Knob: Rotate the knob back 90 degrees counter-clockwise to its original position. This locks in your new combination.
  5. Test the Combination: Scramble the numbers and then re-enter your new combination to ensure it opens the lock correctly.

Important: Do not forget your combination. There is no master key or override function to reset a forgotten combination.

5. Operating the Lock

5.1. Locking Your Bicycle

  1. Position the Cable: Wrap the cable around your bicycle frame, wheel, and a fixed object (e.g., a bike rack, lamppost). Ensure the cable passes through both the frame and at least one wheel for maximum security.
  2. Insert Cable Head: Insert the free end of the cable into the locking mechanism.
  3. Scramble Combination: Once the cable head is fully inserted, scramble the number wheels to secure the lock.
  4. Verify Security: Gently pull on the cable to ensure it is firmly locked and cannot be removed.

5.2. Unlocking Your Bicycle

  1. Enter Combination: Align your personal 4-digit combination with the indicator marks on the lock body.
  2. Release Cable: Pull the cable head out of the locking mechanism.
  3. Remove Cable: Unwind the cable from your bicycle and the fixed object.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the lock body and cable with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of lock lubricant (e.g., graphite-based or silicone spray) into the locking mechanism and on the number wheels to ensure smooth operation. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the lock in a dry place to prevent corrosion.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. Lock is Stiff or Difficult to Open/Close

Solution: Apply a small amount of lock lubricant into the mechanism and rotate the number wheels several times to distribute it. Ensure the combination is perfectly aligned.

7.2. Cannot Set New Combination

Solution: Ensure the lock is open with the current combination. Verify that the reset knob/lever is fully rotated to the reset position before setting new numbers, and then fully returned to its original position to lock the new combination.

7.3. Forgotten Combination

Solution: Unfortunately, if the combination is forgotten and not recorded, there is no way to reset the lock without knowing the current combination. It is crucial to remember or securely store your combination.
