Introduction
The Orange Terror Stamp is a 20-watt hybrid guitar amplifier designed in a compact pedal format. It combines a valve-driven ECC83 preamp with a 20-watt Class AB solid-state power amplifier, delivering authentic Orange tone. This versatile unit is suitable for various applications, including practice, recording, and live performance, offering features like dual master volumes, a shape control, a buffered effects loop, and a CabSim headphone output.
Safety Instructions
- Always use the specified DC 15V 2A regulated power supply. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the unit and void the warranty.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
- Do not expose the unit to moisture, rain, or extreme temperatures.
- Before connecting or disconnecting cables, ensure the unit is powered off.
- Connect the speaker output only to a speaker cabinet with the correct impedance (8 or 16 ohms). Never operate the unit without a speaker load connected to the speaker output.

Setup
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied DC 15V 2A regulated power adapter to the 'DC 15V 2A REGULATED' input on the rear panel (Figure 2). Plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet.
- Guitar Input: Connect your guitar to the 'INPUT' jack on the rear panel using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
- Speaker Connection (Optional): For use with a speaker cabinet, connect the 'SPEAKER OUTPUT 8Ω/16Ω' jack to your speaker cabinet using a speaker cable. Ensure the cabinet's impedance matches the selected output (8 or 16 ohms).
- Headphone Connection (Optional): For silent practice, connect headphones to the 'CAB SIM' output. This output features a cabinet simulator for a realistic sound.
- Effects Loop (Optional): To integrate external effects pedals into the amplifier's signal path, connect the 'SEND (LINE OUT)' jack to the input of your effects pedal(s) and the output of your effects pedal(s) to the 'RETURN' jack.
- Power On: Flip the power switch on the side of the unit to the 'ON' position (Figure 3). The indicator lights for Volume 1 and Volume 2 will illuminate.
Operating
The Orange Terror Stamp offers intuitive controls for shaping your guitar tone.
- Volume 1: Controls the output level for the first volume setting. Ideal for rhythm or lower volume passages.
- Volume 2: Controls the output level for the second volume setting. This can be used as a boost for solos or louder sections.
- Footswitch: Toggles between Volume 1 and Volume 2 settings. The corresponding indicator light will show which volume is active.
- Shape: This single knob EQ control allows you to sculpt your tone. Turning it left emphasizes mid-range frequencies, while turning it right scoops the mids for a more classic, scooped sound.
- Gain: Adjusts the amount of preamp gain, from clean tones to high-gain distortion.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the unit in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Tube Replacement: The ECC83 preamp tube has a finite lifespan. If you notice a decrease in performance or unusual noise, the tube may need replacement. Consult a qualified technician for tube replacement.
Troubleshooting
- No Sound:
- Check all cable connections (guitar, speaker, power).
- Ensure the power supply is correctly connected and the unit is powered on.
- Verify that the speaker cabinet is connected to the correct output and has the appropriate impedance.
- Check the volume and gain settings on the Terror Stamp and your guitar.
- Excessive Noise/Hum:
- Ensure you are using the correct regulated 15V DC power supply.
- Check for faulty cables or connections.
- Try connecting to a different power outlet.
- Reduce the gain setting if the noise is related to high gain.
- Footswitch Not Changing Volumes:
- Ensure the footswitch is fully depressed.
- Check if the indicator lights for Volume 1 and Volume 2 are functioning.
