  • Volume Adjustment: Continue rotating the Power/Volume knob clockwise to increase volume, or counter-clockwise to decrease volume.
  • Power Off: Rotate the Power/Volume knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.

Use the Channel +/- buttons located on the top of the radio to select your desired communication channel. The RB617 supports 16 channels.

4.3. Transmitting and Receiving (PTT)

  • To transmit, press and hold the PTT button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  • To receive, release the PTT button.

4.6. Squelch Function

Squelch automatically mutes the speaker when no signal is present, eliminating background noise. The squelch level can be adjusted via programming software to optimize reception in different noise environments.

4.7. Monitor Function

Press the Scan/Monitor button to temporarily disable the squelch and listen to all activity on the current channel, including weak signals that might otherwise be filtered out.

4.8. Busy Channel Lockout (BCL)

BCL prevents transmission on a channel that is already in use, avoiding interference with ongoing conversations. This feature is enabled by default.

4.9. CTCSS/DCS (Sub-tones)

CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and DCS (Digitally Coded Squelch) sub-tones help filter out unwanted signals. When a CTCSS/DCS code is set, you will only hear communications from radios using the same code on the same channel. This enhances privacy and reduces interference from other users on the same frequency.

5. Maintenance

5.1. General Care

  • Clean the radio's surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep the radio dry. Although designed to resist splashes, it is not waterproof.
  • Avoid exposing the radio to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or dusty environments.

5.2. Battery Care

  • To maximize battery life, avoid overcharging or completely draining the battery frequently.
  • Store the radio with a partially charged battery (around 50%) if not used for extended periods.
  • The 4400mAh battery provides approximately 32 hours of continuous use and up to 300 hours of standby time.
