The Nikon D780 is an FX-format DSLR camera designed for both advanced photography and videography. It combines the robust performance of a DSLR with advanced features for live view shooting and video recording. Setup

1. Charging the Battery

Insert the EN-EL15b Li-ion battery into the MH-25a battery charger. Connect the charger to a power outlet. The charging indicator light will show the charging status. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.

2. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card

Open the battery chamber cover and insert the charged EN-EL15b battery. The D780 features two SD card slots. Open the memory card slot cover and insert SD, SDHC, or SDXC cards into the slots until they click into place. Ensure the cards are correctly oriented.

3. Attaching a Lens

Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear cap from the lens. Align the mounting marks on the lens with the corresponding mark on the camera body. Rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it clicks into place. The D780 is compatible with Nikon F-mount lenses.

Operating the Camera

Power On/Off

To power on the camera, rotate the power switch located around the shutter release button to the 'ON' position. To power off, rotate it back to 'OFF'.

The mode dial allows selection of various shooting modes, including:

Autofocus System

The D780 features a 51-point AF system for viewfinder shooting and a 273-point hybrid AF system for live view and movie recording. This allows for precise and fast subject tracking.

Eye-Detection AF

In live view mode, the camera can detect and focus on a subject's eyes, ideal for portraits. This feature allows for reframing without losing focus on the eyes.

Continuous Shooting

Capture fast-moving action with continuous shooting at up to 7 frames per second (fps) using the viewfinder, or up to 12 fps in live view silent photography mode.

ISO Sensitivity

The D780 offers a wide ISO range of 100-51200, expandable to 50-204800, providing excellent low-light performance.

Shutter Speed

Shutter speeds range from 1/8000 to 900 seconds, enabling capture of both fleeting moments and long exposures.

Silent Photography

Utilize silent photography in live view for discreet shooting, perfect for candid moments without disturbing the subject.

Tilting Touch-Screen Monitor

The 3.2-inch tilting touch-screen LCD monitor allows for flexible shooting angles and intuitive control over settings and focus points.
