Setup
Before first use, ensure all components are clean. Wash all parts with warm water and mild soap, then rinse thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or place in a dishwasher.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to brew coffee with your Pipamoka:
- Prepare Coffee Grounds: Use approximately 16 grams of medium to medium-fine ground coffee. The brew ratio is similar to standard drip methods, close to 1:15 (1g coffee to 15mL water).
- Fill Filter Basket: Place the ground coffee into the filter basket.
- Add Hot Water: Fill the water chamber with hot water (near boiling). The Pipamoka does not heat water.
- Assemble for Brewing: Drop the coffee-filled filter basket into the water chamber. Allow it to sink to the bottom.
- Brew with a Twist: Turn the orange ring of the twisting mechanism. This action creates vacuum pressure inside the mug, drawing hot water downwards through the coffee grounds. Continue twisting until the water chamber has fully risen. This process typically takes about two minutes.
- Remove Brewer: Once brewing is complete, carefully remove the brewing mechanism from the thermo cup.
- Enjoy: Add the lid to the thermo cup and enjoy your freshly brewed coffee. The stainless steel thermo cup will keep your coffee hot for hours.

Cleaning and Maintenance
The WACACO Pipamoka is not dishwasher safe. To clean, disassemble all parts and rinse them thoroughly with warm water. Use the provided cleaning brush to remove any residual coffee grounds from the micro-filter and other components. Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling or storing.
Troubleshooting
- Difficulty Twisting: If the twisting mechanism feels stiff, ensure the coffee grounds are not packed too tightly in the filter basket. A slightly coarser grind might also help.
- Weak Coffee: Ensure you are using the recommended amount of coffee grounds (approx. 16g) and a medium to medium-fine grind. Verify that the hot water is at the correct temperature.
- Coffee Grounds in Cup: Check that the micro-filter is properly seated in the filter basket and is not damaged.
