Setup

  1. Identify Radio Connector: Ensure your radio has an SMA-Male connector to be compatible with the AR-771's SMA-Female connector.
  2. Attach Gasket (Optional): If provided and necessary for your radio model, place the rubber gasket onto the antenna's base.
  3. Screw Antenna On: Carefully align the antenna's SMA-Female connector with the radio's SMA-Male connector. Gently screw the antenna onto the radio clockwise until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
  4. Verify Connection: Ensure the antenna is seated properly and feels secure. A loose connection can affect performance.

Operating

The ABBREE AR-771 antenna is designed to operate across three frequency bands: VHF, 1.25M, and UHF. Its performance is optimized for these ranges.

  • Frequency Compatibility: This antenna is compatible with radios operating on 144MHz (VHF), 222MHz (1.25M), and 435MHz (UHF) bands.
  • Optimal Performance: For best results, ensure your radio is configured to transmit and receive within the antenna's specified frequency ranges.
  • Flexibility: The antenna's flexible design allows for easy storage and reduces the risk of damage during transport.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the antenna with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the antenna in a cool, dry place when not in use. Its flexible nature allows for compact storage.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the antenna for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion, especially around the connector.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Poor signal reception/transmissionLoose antenna connection; Antenna not suited for current frequency; Damaged antenna.Ensure antenna is securely tightened; Verify radio frequency matches antenna's supported bands; Inspect antenna for damage and replace if necessary.
Antenna does not fit radioIncorrect connector type; Obstruction around radio's antenna port.Confirm your radio has an SMA-Male connector; Check for any plastic molding or obstructions around the radio's antenna port that might prevent full seating.
