Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to connect and enable your Arducam camera module with a Raspberry Pi:

  1. Connect the FFC/FPC Cable to the Camera Module: Gently lift the black or brown clip on the camera module's connector. Insert one end of the appropriate flexible cable (FFC for Pi A/B, FPC for Pi Zero/W) into the connector with the blue strip facing away from the lens. Push the clip back down to secure the cable.
  2. Connect the FFC/FPC Cable to the Raspberry Pi: Locate the CSI (Camera Serial Interface) port on your Raspberry Pi. It is typically a long, thin connector. Gently lift the clip on the CSI port. Insert the other end of the flexible cable into the CSI port, ensuring the blue strip faces towards the Ethernet port (on models with one) or away from the USB ports. Secure the clip.
  3. Enable the Camera Interface: Power on your Raspberry Pi. Open a terminal and run the command: sudo raspi-config. Navigate to 'Interface Options' > 'Camera' and select 'Yes' to enable the camera interface. Exit raspi-config and reboot your Raspberry Pi when prompted.
  4. Test the Camera: After rebooting, open a terminal and test the camera by capturing an image: raspistill -o test_image.jpg. If successful, an image named test_image.jpg will be saved in your current directory.
