4. Operating Instructions
Once connected, your operating system should automatically detect the connected drives. No additional drivers are typically required for Windows, Mac OS, or Linux.
4.1. Accessing Drives
After successful connection, the drives will appear as external storage devices in your computer's file explorer (e.g., 'This PC' on Windows, 'Finder' on Mac). You can then browse, copy, move, or delete files as you would with any other external drive.
4.2. Data Transfer
The adapter supports high-speed data transfer up to 5Gbps via its USB 3.0 interface. This allows for efficient transfer of large files between your computer and the connected drives, or between the connected drives themselves if your operating system supports direct drive-to-drive transfers.

5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your MICROWARE USB to SATA IDE HDD Adapter, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Keep Clean: Regularly wipe the adapter and cables with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid using liquid cleaners.
- Proper Storage: When not in use, store the adapter and its components in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handle with Care: Avoid dropping the adapter or subjecting it to physical shocks. Ensure cables are not bent sharply or strained.
- Disconnect Safely: Always safely eject or unmount connected drives from your operating system before physically disconnecting them or powering off the adapter to prevent data corruption.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your adapter, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:
6.1. Drive Not Detected
- Check Connections: Ensure all cables (power, data, USB) are securely connected to both the adapter and the drive, and to your computer.
- Power Supply: Verify that the 12V DC power adapter is correctly plugged into a working wall outlet and the adapter unit. Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Drive Power: For 3.5" drives, ensure the 4-pin Molex power connector is properly attached to the drive.
- Try Another USB Port: Connect the adapter to a different USB port on your computer.
- Check Drive Status: Ensure the hard drive itself is functional. Test it with another enclosure or directly in a computer if possible.
- Disk Management (Windows): Open Disk Management (right-click 'This PC' > 'Manage' > 'Disk Management') to see if the drive is recognized but uninitialized or unformatted.
- Disk Utility (Mac): Open Disk Utility to check if the drive is recognized.
6.2. Slow Transfer Speeds
- USB 3.0 Port: Ensure the adapter is connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer for optimal speeds. USB 2.0 ports will limit speeds to 480Mbps.
- Drive Performance: The actual transfer speed is also limited by the speed of the connected hard drive or SSD. Older drives may have slower performance.
- System Load: High CPU usage or other background processes on your computer can affect transfer speeds.
6.3. Adapter Not Powering On
- Power Outlet: Test the wall outlet with another device to ensure it is working.
- Power Adapter: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the wall outlet and the adapter unit.
- ON/OFF Switch: Confirm the ON/OFF switch on the adapter is in the 'ON' position.
