1. Introduction

The ECOTRIC ATV Snow Plow Blade is a complete universal kit designed for efficient snow removal. This kit is suitable for clearing residential driveways, farm roads, parking lots, and rural paths. It features a heavy-duty stamped steel blade, a square tube steel chassis push tube, and a mid-mount universal kit for broad compatibility.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury or death.

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including a helmet, eye protection, and heavy-duty gloves, when operating the ATV with the snow plow.
  • Ensure the snow plow is securely attached to the ATV according to the installation instructions before operation. Regularly check all bolts and pins for tightness.
  • Do not exceed the weight capacity or towing limits of your ATV. Refer to your ATV's owner's manual for specific limitations.
  • Operate the ATV at a safe speed, especially on uneven terrain or when encountering obstacles. Reduce speed when turning or plowing heavy snow.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Identify and mark any obstacles, such as rocks, curbs, or sprinkler heads, that may be hidden under snow.
  • Avoid plowing across steep slopes. Plow up and down slopes to maintain stability and control.
  • Never allow passengers on the ATV while plowing.
  • Turn off the ATV engine and engage the parking brake before performing any adjustments or maintenance on the snow plow.

4. Setup & Installation

This universal kit is designed for compatibility with various ATV models, including Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris, Aeon, and Arctic-Cat. Please note that it does not fit Can-Am Outlander models. ATVs with welded-on skid plates may require drilling for proper installation of the mid-mount kit.

4.1 Mid-Mount Kit Installation

The mid-mount kit (15-0070 compatible) attaches to the underside of your ATV chassis. Use the provided U-bolts to secure the plate to your ATV's frame. Ensure all connections are tight and stable.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Blade Angle Adjustment

The snow plow blade features a 5-position angle adjustment system (2 Left, Center, 2 Right). This allows you to angle the blade to direct snow to either side or push it straight forward. Adjust the angle by manipulating the pivot handle on the push tube. This adaptability is useful for various snow conditions and terrain types.

5.2 Attaching and Detaching the Plow

The plow utilizes a quick pin attachment system for easy connection and disconnection from the ATV's mid-mount kit. This allows for convenient removal of the plow during off-season months or when not needed.

5.3 Plowing Techniques

Engage the appropriate gear on your ATV for plowing. Maintain a consistent and safe speed. For optimal results, overlap each pass slightly to ensure complete snow removal. Be mindful of obstacles and adjust the blade angle as needed to navigate different areas.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ECOTRIC ATV Snow Plow Blade.

6.1 Component Inspection

  • Wear Bar: The wear bar is designed to protect the bottom edge of the blade from damage. Inspect the wear bar regularly for signs of excessive wear or damage. Replace it if it becomes significantly worn to maintain effective plowing and protect the main blade.
  • Skid Shoes: The skid shoes help to keep the blade elevated from the ground, reducing wear and tear on the blade itself. Adjust the height of the skid shoes to suit different surfaces (e.g., gravel vs. pavement) and snow depths. Ensure they are securely fastened.
  • Springs: The springs on the plow enhance the buffer mechanism, helping to absorb impacts and resistance when the blade encounters obstacles. Inspect the springs for any signs of damage, stretching, or corrosion. Replace if necessary to ensure proper breakaway function.
  • Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and pins for tightness. Vibrations during operation can cause fasteners to loosen. Tighten any loose components to prevent parts from detaching or causing damage.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Installation Difficulties

If you encounter difficulties during assembly or installation, carefully review the instructions and installation videos provided in Section 4. Ensure all components are correctly oriented and aligned. Some ATV models, particularly those with welded-on skid plates, may require minor modifications such as drilling to accommodate the mid-mount kit.

7.2 Ineffective Snow Clearing

If the plow is not clearing snow effectively, check the following:

  • Blade Angle: Ensure the blade is set to an appropriate angle for the snow depth and type. Adjust the 5-position pivot mechanism as needed.
  • Skid Shoe Adjustment: Verify that the skid shoes are adjusted to the correct height. If they are set too high, the blade may ride over the snow; if too low, it may dig into the surface.
  • Wear Bar Condition: A worn wear bar can reduce plowing efficiency. Inspect and replace if necessary.
