2. Product Overview

The Herdio 5.25'' Home Audio Package provides a versatile sound solution for various indoor environments. It includes a wall-mount Bluetooth amplifier receiver and two 5.25-inch in-ceiling passive speakers. The system supports multiple audio input options, including Bluetooth, AUX, and USB, along with a microphone input for paging or announcements.

2.1. Wall Mount Bluetooth Amplifier Receiver

This compact amplifier unit is designed to fit into a standard wall plate, offering convenient access to controls and connectivity. It features a master volume knob, input selection switch, USB port for media playback and device charging, a 3.5mm AUX-in jack, and a 1/4'' MIC-in jack.

4. Setup

4.1. Wall Mount Amplifier Installation

  1. Prepare the Wall: Ensure you have a standard electrical wall box available for installation.
  2. Connect Power Cable: Connect the 12V DC power cable (red positive, black negative) to the two-pin connector on the back of the amplifier module.
  3. Connect Audio Cable: Connect the stereo input audio cable to the three-pin connector on the back of the amplifier module.
  4. Mount the Amplifier: Carefully insert the amplifier module into the wall box. Secure it using the provided screws.
  5. Attach Faceplate: Place the decorative faceplate over the amplifier and secure it.

4.2. Ceiling Speaker Installation

  1. Determine Location: Choose appropriate locations in the ceiling or wall for the speakers, ensuring no obstructions behind the surface.
  2. Cut Opening: Use the provided cutout template to mark and cut a circular opening in the ceiling/wall. The cutout diameter is 7.3 inches (18.5 cm).
  3. Remove Speaker Grille: Gently remove the speaker grille using a small tool or screwdriver.
  4. Insert Speaker: Insert the speaker into the cutout opening.
  5. Secure Speaker: Tighten the speaker clips with screws to firmly secure the speaker in place.
  6. Replace Grille: Carefully place the speaker grille back onto the speaker.

4.3. Wiring the System

  1. Connect Speaker Wires to Speakers: Connect the provided speaker wires to the terminals on the back of each speaker. Ensure red wire connects to positive (+) and black wire to negative (-).
  2. Connect Speaker Wires to Amplifier: Connect the other end of the speaker wires to the speaker output terminals on the back of the wall-mount amplifier. Use a screwdriver to loosen the terminal screws, insert the wires (red to SPK+, black to SPK-), and tighten the screws to secure the connection.
  3. Connect Power Supply: Plug the 12V power supply into a standard electrical outlet and connect its DC plug to the 12V DC input jack on the wall-mount amplifier.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Powering On/Off and Volume Control

To power on the system, turn the master volume knob clockwise. You will hear an audible 'drop' sound, and the power LED (PWR) will illuminate. Continue turning the knob clockwise to increase the volume. To power off, turn the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.

5.2. Input Selection

Use the input selection switch on the amplifier's front panel to choose between AUX, BT (Bluetooth), or MIC inputs.

5.3. Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Switch the input selector to 'BT'. The Bluetooth LED will flash, indicating it is in pairing mode.
  2. On your mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select 'Herdio' from the list of available devices to pair.
  4. Once successfully paired, the Bluetooth LED on the amplifier will remain steadily lit.
  5. You can now play audio from your device through the Herdio speaker system.

5.4. Using USB Input

Insert a USB flash drive into the USB INPUT port for media playback. The amplifier will automatically detect and play audio files. This port also functions as a charging port for compatible devices (5V/1A).

5.5. Using AUX-In

Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, TV) to the 3.5mm AUX IN jack using a stereo audio cable. Switch the input selector to 'AUX' to play audio from the connected device.

5.6. Using MIC-In

Connect a microphone to the 1/4'' MIC IN jack. Switch the input selector to 'MIC' for microphone input. This feature is suitable for paging or making announcements.
