3. Initial Setup
3.1 Charging the Watch (Tough Solar)
Your GW9400-1B watch is powered by a solar cell and a rechargeable battery. To ensure optimal performance, expose the watch face to light regularly.
- Upon first use or after prolonged storage in darkness, place the watch in a brightly lit area (e.g., near a window) for several hours.
- Avoid placing the watch in direct sunlight for extended periods in extremely hot conditions, as this may cause damage.
- The power indicator on the display shows the current charge level (H: High, M: Medium, L: Low). Aim to keep the charge level at 'H'.
3.2 Setting the Home City and Time
The Home City setting is crucial for correct timekeeping and sensor readings.
- In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down the ADJUST button (top left) for about two seconds until the city code starts to flash. This indicates the setting mode.
- Use the FORWARD button (middle right) and REVERSE button (top right) to select your desired Home City code. Refer to the city code list in the full manual for your region.
- Press the MODE button (bottom left) to cycle through other settings like DST (Daylight Saving Time), 12/24-hour format, seconds, hour, minute, year, month, and day.
- Use the FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to change the values for each setting.
- Once all settings are configured, press the ADJUST button to exit the setting mode.
Note: The watch will attempt to receive time calibration signals automatically overnight. Ensure it is placed near a window or in an open area for better reception.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Button Functions Overview

Figure 2: Side view illustrating the watch buttons. The top-left button is ADJUST, bottom-left is MODE, top-right is REVERSE, middle-right is FORWARD, and the large button on the left is SENSOR.
- ADJUST (Top Left): Used to enter and exit setting modes, and to confirm settings.
- MODE (Bottom Left): Cycles through the watch's different modes (Timekeeping, World Time, Stopwatch, Timer, Alarm, Altimeter, Barometer/Thermometer, Compass).
- SENSOR (Large Left Button): Directly activates the Triple Sensor functions (Altimeter, Barometer/Thermometer, Compass).
- FORWARD (Middle Right): Used to increase values or scroll forward through options in setting modes.
- REVERSE (Top Right): Used to decrease values or scroll backward through options in setting modes.
- LIGHT (Bottom Right): Activates the LED backlight.
4.2 Timekeeping Mode
This is the default mode, displaying the current time, date, and day of the week.
- To return to Timekeeping Mode from any other mode, press the MODE button repeatedly until the time and date are displayed, or hold the MODE button for a few seconds.
- To toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour timekeeping, press the FORWARD button in Timekeeping Mode.

4.3 Using the Triple Sensor
The Triple Sensor provides quick access to Altimeter, Barometer/Thermometer, and Compass functions.
- Altimeter: Press the SENSOR button once. The watch will display the current altitude.
- Barometer/Thermometer: Press the SENSOR button twice. The watch will display atmospheric pressure and temperature.
- Compass: Press the SENSOR button three times. The watch will indicate magnetic north and display the current bearing.
Note: For accurate temperature readings, remove the watch from your wrist for at least 20-30 minutes, as body heat can affect the sensor. Calibrate the compass regularly for best accuracy.
4.4 World Time Mode
To view the time in different cities around the world:
- From Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button until "WT" (World Time) appears.
- Use the FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to scroll through different city codes.

- Hold ADJUST to enter alarm setting mode. Use FORWARD/REVERSE to set the alarm time. Press ADJUST to save.
- Press FORWARD to toggle the alarm ON/OFF.
5. Maintenance and Care
5.1 General Care
- Clean the watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush and mild soap solution, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, strong magnetic fields, or harsh chemicals.
- The resin band and case are durable but can degrade over time with prolonged exposure to sunlight and moisture.
5.2 Water Resistance
Your GW9400-1B is water-resistant to 200 meters.
- Do not operate buttons while the watch is submerged in water or wet.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and wipe it dry.
- Regular inspection of gaskets and seals by a qualified technician is recommended to maintain water resistance.

6. Troubleshooting
- Display is dim or blank: The watch may be in Power Saving mode or the battery charge is low. Expose the watch to bright light for charging. If the display remains blank, the battery might be completely depleted and require significant charging time.
- Time is incorrect:
- Ensure your Home City setting is correct.
- Verify that the watch is receiving time calibration signals. Place it near a window overnight.
- Check if Daylight Saving Time (DST) setting is correct for your region.
- Sensor readings are inaccurate:
- Temperature: Remove the watch from your wrist for 20-30 minutes before taking a reading to avoid body heat interference.
- Compass: Perform a two-point calibration. Avoid strong magnetic fields.
- Altimeter/Barometer: Calibrate the altimeter with a known altitude if possible. Atmospheric pressure changes constantly, affecting readings.
- Buttons are unresponsive: Ensure the watch is not in a mode that locks buttons (e.g., some setting modes require exiting before normal operation). If submerged, wait until the watch is dry before operating buttons.
