5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your shredder.
Oiling the Shredder
To maintain peak performance and extend the life of your shredder, it is recommended to oil the cutting blades regularly. Use Fellowes shredder oil or a vegetable-based oil in a non-aerosol container.
- Apply a thin line of oil across the paper entry slot.
- Run the shredder in reverse for 10 seconds to distribute the oil.
- Repeat this process after every 30 minutes of continuous shredding or at least twice a month for light use.
Emptying the Waste Bin
When the Intellibar's bin full indicator illuminates, it's time to empty the 22-liter waste bin. Always unplug the shredder before pulling out the bin to prevent accidental operation.
Cleaning
- Unplug the shredder before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the shredder with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Periodically clean the Safesense sensors located near the paper entry slot with a soft, dry cloth to ensure proper function.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your shredder, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

|---|---|---|
| Shredder does not turn on. | Not plugged in; waste bin not fully inserted; power switch off. | Ensure power cord is securely plugged in. Push waste bin in completely. Press the power button. |
| Shredder stops during operation. | Overheating; waste bin full; paper jam; Safesense activated. | Allow shredder to cool down (approx. 20-30 min). Empty waste bin. Clear paper jam (use reverse function). Remove hands from paper entry. |
| Shredder makes unusual noise. | Blades need oiling; foreign object in blades. | Oil the shredder blades as per maintenance instructions. Unplug and carefully inspect for foreign objects. |
