4. Setup

The RE300 offers multiple convenient setup methods to get your Wi-Fi extended quickly.

4.1 Via the TP-Link Tether App (Recommended)

1. Download the TP-Link Tether app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
2. Plug the RE300 into a power outlet near your router. Wait for the Power LED to turn solid white.
3. Launch the Tether app and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don't have one, create it first.
4. Tap the '+' button in the app and select 'Range Extender'.
5. Follow the in-app instructions to complete the setup. The LED should turn solid white, indicating a successful connection to your router.

4.2 Via the WPS Button

1. Plug the extender into a power outlet next to your router. Wait for the Power LED to turn solid white.
2. Press the WPS button on your router.
3. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the extender. The Signal LED should change from blinking to solid white, indicating a successful connection.
4. If the extender connects to a dual-band router, repeat steps 1 and 2 to connect to the other band.

4.3 Via a Web Browser

1. Connect your computer or smartphone to the extender's network (e.g., TP-Link_Extender).
2. Visit http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254 in a web browser. Create a password to log in.
3. Follow the web instructions to complete the setup.

4.4 Relocate for Optimal Placement

After initial setup, plug the extender in an outlet halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. The location you choose should be within the range of your router. Wait for about 2 minutes until the Signal LED turns solid white. If it doesn't, relocate the extender closer to the router to achieve better signal quality.

Once set up, the RE300 will automatically extend your Wi-Fi network. Devices in the extended area will connect to the extender's network name (SSID) which is typically your main network's name followed by "_EXT" or a new name you configured during setup. For OneMesh compatible routers, the extender will join your existing mesh network, providing a single unified Wi-Fi name for seamless roaming.

5.1 Dual-Band Connectivity

The RE300 operates on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The 2.4 GHz band offers wider coverage, while the 5 GHz band provides faster speeds and is ideal for bandwidth-intensive tasks like HD streaming and online gaming. Your devices will automatically connect to the most suitable band for optimal performance.

5.2 OneMesh for Seamless Roaming

If you have a TP-Link OneMesh compatible router, the RE300 can join the OneMesh network. This creates a single, unified Wi-Fi network name (SSID) across your entire home, allowing your devices to automatically switch to the strongest Wi-Fi signal as you move, without interruptions.

5.3 High-Speed Mode

Activate High-Speed Mode via the Tether app or web interface to dedicate one Wi-Fi band (e.g., 5 GHz) for backhaul connection to the router and the other band (e.g., 2.4 GHz) for client devices. This optimizes performance for demanding applications.

5.4 Access Point Mode

The RE300 can also function as a wireless access point. Connect an Ethernet cable from your main router to the Ethernet port on the RE300. The extender will then broadcast a new Wi-Fi network, converting your wired connection into a wireless one.

• Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install firmware updates via the TP-Link Tether app or the web management interface to ensure optimal performance and security.

• No Internet Access:
