Introduction
Welcome to the Mattel Games Scrabble Harry Potter Edition. This special edition combines the classic word-building game of Scrabble with the magical world of Harry Potter. Players will enjoy forming words using a unique vocabulary from the wizarding world, enhanced by special Hogwarts cards.
This manual provides instructions for setting up and playing the game. Please note that while this manual is in English, the game components, including the main rulebook and glossary, may be in Italian as per product specifications. Familiarity with standard Scrabble rules is beneficial.

Setup
- Place the Game Board: Unfold the Scrabble Harry Potter game board and place it on a flat surface.
- Distribute Racks: Each player selects a letter rack.
- Prepare Letter Tiles: Place all 100 letter tiles into the tile bag and mix them thoroughly.
- Draw Initial Tiles: Each player draws seven tiles from the bag and places them on their rack, hidden from other players.
- Prepare Hogwarts Cards: Shuffle the 36 Hogwarts cards and place them face down in a designated area near the board.
- Determine First Player: Players can decide the first player by drawing a tile (player with the letter closest to 'A' goes first), or by mutual agreement.
Operating (Gameplay)
The game is played by 2 to 4 players. The objective is to score points by placing words on the game board using your letter tiles. Words can be formed horizontally or vertically, and must read as valid words from the Wizarding World Glossary or a standard dictionary (if agreed upon by players).
Basic Gameplay Turn:
- Form a Word: The first player places a word on the board using two or more of their tiles. The first word must cover the center star square. Subsequent words must connect to an existing word on the board.
- Score the Word: Calculate the score for the word based on letter values and any premium squares (Double Letter Score, Triple Word Score, etc.).
- Hogwarts Card Activation: If a player forms a word that covers a "Hogwarts" square on the board, they must draw a Hogwarts card. These cards provide special abilities or bonus points. Follow the instructions on the card.
- Draw New Tiles: After scoring, draw new tiles from the bag to replenish your rack to seven tiles.
- End Turn: The turn passes to the next player.
Special Features:
- Wizarding World Glossary: This exclusive glossary contains words specific to the Harry Potter universe. Players can use these words in addition to standard dictionary words.
- Hogwarts Cards: These 36 cards introduce unique magical effects, such as gaining extra points, swapping tiles, or other strategic advantages.

Maintenance
- Storage: Store all game components in the original box to prevent loss or damage.
- Cleaning: Wipe the game board and plastic components with a soft, dry cloth if needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive moisture.
- Tile Care: Handle letter tiles carefully to prevent wear on the printed letters.
Troubleshooting
- Missing Components: If any components are missing upon unboxing, please contact Mattel Games customer support.
- Language Barrier: The primary instruction booklet and glossary included with the game may be in Italian. For English rules, refer to this manual or a standard Scrabble rule set, adapting for the Harry Potter specific elements (Hogwarts cards, glossary).
- Disputes over Words: In case of disagreement over a word's validity, consult the Wizarding World Glossary first. For non-Harry Potter words, a standard dictionary should be used if agreed upon by all players.
