Initial Setup
Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment located on the control box.
- Insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment securely.
Power On/Off
Press the Power button (usually marked with a power symbol) on the control box to turn the detector on or off. The detector will perform a self-calibration upon startup.

Operating Modes
The Vanquish 340 features three pre-set search modes and an All-Metal mode, optimized for different detecting environments and target preferences.
- Park Mode: Ideal for high-trash recreation areas like parks. This mode offers good target separation.
- Field Mode: Best for finding fine coins and artifacts in open fields.
- Beach Mode: Specifically designed for wet sand and saltwater conditions, where other detectors may struggle.
- All-Metal Mode: Detects all types of metal without discrimination. Use this mode to ensure no targets are missed.
To select a mode, press the "Search Mode" button on the control box.

Sensitivity Adjustment
Adjusting the sensitivity controls how responsive your detector is to targets and ground mineralization.
- Press the Sensitivity button (often marked with +/- or a wave symbol).
- Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to increase or decrease the sensitivity level.
- Start with a moderate sensitivity and increase it until you hear stable operation without excessive false signals.

Pinpointing
The pinpoint function helps you accurately locate the exact position of a detected target before digging.
- Once a target is detected, center the search coil over the target.
- Press and hold the Pinpoint button (P-P).
- Slowly move the coil in a cross-pattern over the target. The loudest and most stable audio signal indicates the center of the target.

Audio Control
The Vanquish 340 offers automatic noise canceling and adjustable volume settings for a clear audio experience.
- Volume: Use the Volume buttons (+/-) to adjust the audio output level to your preference.
- Noise Canceling: The detector automatically cancels noise to provide a stable signal.

Maintenance and Care
- Always clean your detector after use, especially the search coil if used in wet or sandy conditions.
- Wipe down the control box with a damp cloth; avoid harsh chemicals.
- Store the detector in a dry, cool place.
- Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
- Inspect cables and connections regularly for wear or damage.
Troubleshooting
False Signals
- Reduce sensitivity.
- Perform a noise cancel (if available, or simply move to a different spot).
- Check for electromagnetic interference from power lines or other electronic devices.
No Signal/Weak Signal
- Ensure batteries are fresh and correctly installed.
- Check all cable connections.
- Increase sensitivity.
- Verify the search coil is properly attached and functioning.
