Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning
- Carafe and Filter Basket: After each use, wash the carafe, carafe lid, and filter basket in hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack only).
- Single-Serve Components: Remove and wash the single-serve pod holder and brew basket after each use.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Descale your coffee maker every 1-3 months, depending on water hardness and frequency of use.
- Prepare Solution: Pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the water reservoir, then fill the rest of the reservoir with cold water up to the MAX fill line.
- Run Cycle (Carafe): Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the CARAFE button and then BREW NOW I/O. Allow half of the solution to brew, then turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for 30 minutes. Turn it back on to complete the brewing cycle.
- Run Cycle (Single-Serve): Repeat the process for the single-serve side, using the single-serve reservoir and running a cycle with the vinegar solution.
- Rinse Cycles: After descaling, run 2-3 full cycles with clean, cold water through both sides of the coffee maker to remove any remaining vinegar taste.
