It is designed for use with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only and is ETL Listed for safety.

2. Important Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or property damage.

  • Outdoor Use: This device is rated IP44 weatherproof. For outdoor installation, ensure the plug is mounted vertically at least 2 feet (0.6 meters) above the ground to prevent water ingress.
  • Electrical Rating: Do not exceed the maximum load of 15 Amps / 1875 Watts / 125 Volts. Overloading the device can cause overheating and fire.
  • Grounding: Always connect the smart plug to a grounded outlet.
  • Water Exposure: Do not immerse the smart plug in water or expose it to direct water jets. Ensure the outlet covers are securely closed when not in use.
  • Children: Keep out of reach of children.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device. This will void the warranty and may pose a safety risk.
  • Wi-Fi Network: This device requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network for operation. It is not compatible with 5.0 GHz networks.

5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to connect your HBN Outdoor Smart WiFi Plug to your home network and control it via the app.

Step 1: Download the App

The HBN Smart WiFi Plug is compatible with HBN Smart, Smart Life, or Tuya Smart applications. Download your preferred app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Step 2: Register or Log In

Open the app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.

Step 3: Connect the Smart Plug

  1. Plug the HBN Smart WiFi Plug into a power outlet.
  2. Ensure the indicator light is blinking rapidly (EZ Mode) or slowly (AP Mode). If not, press and hold the power button on the plug for 5 seconds until it blinks.
  3. Open the app and tap the "+" icon or "Add Device" to add a new device.
  4. Select the device type, typically under "Electrical" or "Socket" categories. Choose "Socket (Wi-Fi)" or similar.
  5. Confirm the indicator light status in the app.
  6. Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name and password. The device does not support 5.0 GHz networks.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection process. Once connected, the indicator light will stop blinking and remain solid.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Remote Control via App

Once connected, you can control your smart plug from anywhere using the app:

  • On/Off Control: Tap the power icon next to each outlet in the app to turn it on or off individually.
  • Independent Outlets: The two outlets can be controlled independently, allowing you to manage different devices simultaneously.

6.2 Voice Control

The HBN Smart WiFi Plug is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant:

  • Linking Accounts: Follow the instructions in your smart assistant app (Alexa or Google Home) to link your HBN Smart, Smart Life, or Tuya Smart account.
  • Voice Commands: Once linked, you can use voice commands such as:
    • "Alexa, turn on [Device Name]"
    • "Hey Google, turn off [Device Name]"

6.3 Schedule and Timer Setting

  • Scheduling: In the app, navigate to the scheduling section for your smart plug. You can set specific times for each outlet to turn on or off on chosen days of the week.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the smart plug from power before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the smart plug in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Outlet Covers: Ensure the protective covers for the outlets are closed when not in use to maintain IP44 weather resistance.

8. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

Device fails to connect to Wi-Fi:
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. The plug does not support 5.0 GHz networks.
  • Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct.
  • Move the smart plug closer to your Wi-Fi router.
  • Try connecting using AP (Access Point) mode if EZ (Easy) mode fails. Instructions for AP mode are usually found within the app's device addition process.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router and the smart plug.
Voice control not working:
  • Ensure your HBN Smart, Smart Life, or Tuya Smart account is correctly linked to your Amazon Alexa or Google Home Assistant app.
  • Check the device name in the smart assistant app; it should match the name you use in your voice commands.
  • Verify your smart assistant device is connected to the internet.
Plug loses settings after power outage:
