Setup

Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the keyboard. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the keyboard's USB-C port and the other end to a powered USB port on your computer or a USB wall adapter. The indicator light will show charging status.

Connecting the Keyboard

The keyboard supports three connection modes: 2.4G Wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and Wired USB-C.

2.4G Wireless Connection

  1. Take out the 2.4G wireless receiver from its storage slot on the right side of the keyboard.
  2. Insert the receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Switch the mode selector on the left side of the keyboard to the 2.4G position. The keyboard will automatically connect.

Bluetooth 5.0 Connection

  1. Switch the mode selector on the left side of the keyboard to the Bluetooth position.
  2. Press and hold Fn + 1/2/3 to initiate pairing. The long indicator light will flash quickly, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your device (PC, laptop, gaming console, mobile device), search for Bluetooth devices and select "Kafka Keyboard" (or similar) to connect.
  4. The keyboard supports pairing up to 3 devices. Press Fn + 1/2/3 to switch between paired devices.

Wired Connection

  1. Insert the USB-C cable into the USB-C port on the keyboard.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB port on your computer.
  3. Switch the mode selector on the left side of the keyboard to the middle (wired) position. The keyboard will be ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Backlight Control

The keyboard features 16 million color RGB adjustable backlighting.

  • Light Customization Function: Press Fn + ~ to access custom backlight settings. This supports one set of custom memory lighting only.
  • Custom Lighting Editing:
    1. Press Fn + INS to switch to Custom Lighting mode.
    2. Then press Fn + ~ again to begin adjusting.
    3. Press the key you wish to define. The keyboard lighting will change color with each press.
    4. After completing your adjustments, press Fn + ~ again to save your changes.

Windows/Mac Mode Switching

The keyboard supports both Windows and Mac operating systems. You can switch between modes using key combinations:

  • Switch to Windows mode: Press Fn + A
  • Switch to Mac mode: Press Fn + S
  • Swap Win and Alt Keys: When in Mac mode, the Win key functions as the Command key and the Alt key functions as the Option key.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Keyboard

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your device before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the keycaps and keyboard surface.
  • For deeper cleaning between keys, use compressed air to remove dust and debris.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or spraying liquids directly onto the keyboard.

Keycap and Switch Replacement (Hot-Swap Feature)

This keyboard features hot-swappable mechanical switches, allowing for easy replacement without soldering.

  • Use the provided keycap puller to gently remove the desired keycap.
  • Once the keycap is removed, use the provided switch puller to carefully extract the mechanical switch.
  • Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and gently press it into place until it clicks. Ensure the pins are not bent.
  • Place the new keycap onto the switch stem.
  • When replacing themed keycaps, ensure they match the respective height category (R1-R4) to prevent damage to keycaps or switches.

  • Q: Why can't I use my Win key?

    A: When the Win key is locked by pressing Fn + Win, it cannot be used. At this time, the Win indicator light on the keyboard will be turned on. Press Fn + Win again to unlock.

  • Q: Why are my Win and Alt keys swapped, and F1-F12 are not responding or have become function keys?

    A: When Fn + S is pressed, the keyboard switches to Mac mode. In Windows system, the Win and Alt keys will be swapped, and Fn + F1-F12 will become function keys. Press Fn + A to switch back to Windows mode.
