Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your LiitoKala Lii-500 Smart Battery Charger. The Lii-500 is designed to charge various cylindrical rechargeable batteries, including 3.7V Li-ion and 1.2V Ni-MH types. It features four independent charging slots, allowing simultaneous charging of different battery sizes and capacities. Key functionalities include selectable charging currents and a USB output for charging external 5V electronic devices.

Setup

1. Connect Power Adapter: Insert the DC 12V output plug of the power adapter into the DC 12V input port on the back of the charger.

2. Plug into Wall Outlet: Connect the power adapter to a suitable AC wall outlet (100-240V, 50/60Hz).
3. Initial Display: Upon power-up, the charger's LCD display will illuminate, indicating it is ready for use.

Operating Instructions

1. Understanding the LCD Display

• Charging Mode: Indicates the charger is actively charging batteries.
• Fast Test Mode: For quickly determining battery capacity.
• Normal Test Mode: For a more accurate battery capacity test (charge-discharge-charge cycle).
• End of Work Sign ("End"): Appears when a process (charge/test) is complete.
• Voltage Display: Shows the current voltage of the battery in the selected slot.
• Current Selection: Displays the selected charging or discharging current (300mA, 500mA, 700mA, 1000mA).
• USB Output Voltage Display: Shows the voltage of the USB output (5V).
• Electricity Volume Display: Shows the accumulated capacity (mAh) during charge/discharge.
• Battery Resistance Display: Shows the internal resistance (mR) of the battery.
• Working Hours: Displays the elapsed time for the current operation.

2. Inserting Batteries

The Lii-500 supports 3.7V Li-ion and 1.2V Ni-MH cylindrical rechargeable batteries with dimensions between 0-22mm diameter and 34-70mm height. This includes common sizes like 18650, 26650, 14500, 21700, AA, and AAA.

• Carefully insert one or more batteries into the four independent slots, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
• The charger will automatically detect the battery type (Li-ion or Ni-MH) and display its current voltage.

3. Mode Selection

After inserting a battery, press the MODE button to cycle through the available modes:

• CHARGE: Standard charging mode.
• FAST TEST: Quickly determines battery capacity by discharging and then fully charging.
• NOR TEST (Normal Test): Provides a more accurate capacity measurement through a full charge, discharge, and then full charge cycle.

If no mode is selected within 8 seconds, the charger will default to CHARGE mode at 500mA.

4. Current Selection

In CHARGE mode, press the CURRENT button to select the desired charging current:

• 300mA
• 500mA (Default)
• 700mA
• 1000mA

For TEST modes, the discharge current is fixed at 250mA or 500mA, and the charge current can be selected.

5. USB Output Function

The Lii-500 features a 5V/1000mA USB output port. This allows you to use the charger as a power bank to charge external 5V electronic devices (e.g., smartphones) when Li-ion batteries are inserted into the charging slots.

• Ensure at least one charged Li-ion battery is in a slot.
• Connect your device to the USB output port on the back of the charger.
• The USB output will automatically activate.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Storage: Store the charger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture when not in use.
• Handling: Avoid dropping the charger or subjecting it to strong impacts.
• Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger during operation to prevent overheating.

Troubleshooting

• Charger not powering on:
  • Check if the power adapter is securely connected to both the charger and the wall outlet.
  • Verify the wall outlet is functional.
• Battery not charging/displaying:
  • Ensure the battery is inserted with correct polarity.
  • Check if the battery is compatible with the charger (3.7V Li-ion or 1.2V Ni-MH cylindrical).
  • The battery might be deeply discharged or damaged. Try a different battery.
• USB output not working:
  • Ensure at least one charged Li-ion battery is present in a slot.
  • Check the USB cable connection to your device and the charger.
• Overheating:
  • Ensure the charger is placed in a well-ventilated area.
  • Reduce the charging current if possible.
  • If overheating persists, discontinue use and contact support.
