3. Setup and Cartridge Installation
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Check for any damage. Retain packaging for storage if desired.
3.2 Mantle Installation (if not pre-installed)
The lamp comes with a system for easy mantle replacement. If a mantle is not already installed or needs replacement:
- Remove the glass globe by carefully lifting the lamp head assembly from the base.
- Attach the new mantle to the burner nozzle according to the mantle manufacturer's instructions. Ensure it is securely tied.
- Before installing the gas cartridge, "burn in" the mantle: Light the mantle with a match or lighter until it turns white and brittle. This process creates the incandescent mesh.
- Allow the mantle to cool completely before handling or reassembling the lamp.
- Carefully replace the glass globe and lamp head assembly onto the base.
3.3 Installing the Gas Cartridge (Campingaz C 206)
The Campingaz 206 L uses a "Clip & Go" system for secure and easy cartridge installation. Ensure the lamp is turned off and cool before proceeding.
- Separate the lamp head assembly from the blue cartridge housing by twisting and lifting.
- Insert a new Campingaz C 206 pierceable gas cartridge into the blue housing. Ensure it sits flat at the bottom.
- Align the lamp head assembly with the cartridge housing and press down firmly. The "Clip & Go" system will pierce the cartridge and lock the two parts together. You should hear a click.
- Once the cartridge is pierced, it cannot be removed until it is empty.

4. Operating the Gas Lamp
4.1 Lighting the Lamp
- Ensure the lamp is on a stable, non-flammable surface.
- Slowly turn the control knob counter-clockwise to allow a small amount of gas to flow. You should hear a faint hiss.
- Immediately bring a lit match or lighter to the mantle. The mantle should ignite.
- Once lit, slowly turn the control knob further counter-clockwise to increase brightness to the desired level. Do not open fully if not needed.

4.2 Adjusting Brightness and Turning Off
- To adjust brightness, rotate the control knob. Clockwise reduces gas flow and brightness; counter-clockwise increases it.
- To turn off the lamp, turn the control knob fully clockwise until the flame extinguishes.
- Allow the lamp to cool completely before moving or storing.

4.3 Leak Testing
Perform a leak test after every cartridge installation and before each use.
- Prepare a soapy water solution (e.g., dish soap and water).
- Ensure the control knob is in the OFF position.
- Apply the soapy solution to all connections, especially where the lamp head meets the cartridge housing.
- Slowly turn the control knob slightly to allow a small amount of gas pressure.
- Observe for bubbles. The presence of bubbles indicates a gas leak.
- If a leak is detected, immediately turn off the gas, move the lamp to a well-ventilated area, and do not attempt to light it. Re-check connections or replace the cartridge if necessary. If the leak persists, do not use the lamp and contact customer support.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Ensure the lamp is completely cool before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- The glass globe can be carefully removed and washed with mild soap and water if needed. Ensure it is completely dry before reassembly.
5.2 Mantle Replacement
Mantles are fragile and will eventually need replacement. Always carry spare mantles.
- Ensure the lamp is completely cool.
- Carefully remove the glass globe.
- Gently remove the old, brittle mantle. Dispose of it responsibly.
- Install a new mantle as described in section 3.2.
- Reattach the glass globe.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lamp does not light. | No gas flow; empty cartridge; clogged burner. | Ensure control knob is open; replace cartridge; clean burner (if safe to do so, or contact service). |
| Flickering or weak flame. | Low gas pressure; partially clogged burner; damaged mantle. | Check cartridge level; clean burner; replace mantle. |
| Gas smell. | Gas leak. | Immediately turn off gas. Perform leak test (Section 4.3). Do not use if leak persists. |
| Mantle burns out quickly. | Improper installation; excessive vibration; over-tightening. | Ensure mantle is installed correctly and not overtightened. Handle lamp gently. |
