Operating Modes

The WAVLINK AC1200 supports three primary operating modes to suit various networking needs:

  • Router Mode: The device acts as a primary router, connecting directly to your modem and distributing Wi-Fi to your devices.
  • Access Point (AP) Mode: The device connects to an existing wired network and broadcasts a new Wi-Fi signal, extending coverage without acting as a router.
  • Repeater Mode: The device extends the range of an existing Wi-Fi network by receiving the signal and re-broadcasting it, ideal for covering dead zones.

Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your WAVLINK AC1200 Outdoor Extender:

  • Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the device to remove dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the WAVLINK official website regularly for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated ensures the latest features, security patches, and performance improvements.
  • Connection Check: Periodically inspect all cable connections (Ethernet, PoE) to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
  • Environmental Protection: While designed for outdoor use, avoid placing the device in locations prone to direct, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions beyond its specified operating range.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WAVLINK AC1200, consider the following:

  • No Power/Lights Off:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the PoE converter and a working power outlet.
    • Verify the Ethernet cable from the PoE converter to the device is properly connected.
  • No Internet Access:
    • Check the internet connection of your main router.
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable from the PoE converter to your main router is connected to a LAN port.
    • If in Repeater mode, ensure the extender is successfully connected to your main Wi-Fi network and receiving a strong signal.
  • Weak Signal/Poor Performance:
    • Adjust the position and orientation of the antennas.
    • Relocate the extender to a more central position within the desired coverage area, ensuring minimal obstructions.
    • Check for sources of interference (e.g., other electronic devices, thick walls).
  • Login/Configuration Issues:
    • Ensure you are using the correct IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1 or ap.setup) to access the web interface.
    • If you cannot log in, try resetting the device to factory defaults (refer to the Quick Start Guide for reset instructions).
