Introduction
The Uniden SX307-3C FRS 2-Way Radio is a lightweight, palm-sized communication device designed for reliable contact in various environments. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your radios.

Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
- Slide the cover downwards and remove it.
- Insert the rechargeable AA NiMH batteries into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover, sliding it upwards until it clicks securely into place.

2. Charging the Batteries
- Connect the Micro USB Y-cable to the charging port on each radio.
- Plug the USB end of the cable into a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a powered USB port.
- The charging indicator on the radio will illuminate to show charging status.
- Allow sufficient time for a full charge before first use.

3. Attaching Belt Clips and Lanyards
- Align the belt clip with the designated slots on the back of the radio and slide it into place until it locks.
- For lanyard attachment, thread the lanyard through the carabiner loop located at the top of the radio.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume
- To power on the radio, rotate the top knob clockwise until you hear a click and the display illuminates.
- To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks off.
- Adjust the volume by rotating the same knob.
2. Channel Selection
- Press the MENU button to enter channel selection mode.
- Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to select one of the 22 available FRS channels.
- Press MENU again to confirm your selection.
3. Setting Privacy Codes (CTCSS/DCS)
- After selecting a channel, press MENU twice to enter privacy code selection.
- Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to select one of the 121 privacy codes.
- Press MENU to confirm. Both radios must be on the same channel and privacy code to communicate privately.
4. Transmitting and Receiving (PTT)
- To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button located on the side of the radio.
- Speak clearly into the microphone.
- Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and listen for a response.
5. VOX (Voice-Activated Transmission)
- VOX allows hands-free communication. To activate, press MENU multiple times until the VOX setting appears.
- Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to select a VOX sensitivity level (higher numbers for lower sensitivity).
- Press MENU to confirm. An optional headset is recommended for optimal VOX performance.
6. Call Tones and Roger Beep
- To send a call tone, briefly press the CALL button. There are 5 selectable call tones.
- The Roger Beep is an audible tone that sounds when you release the PTT button, signaling to other users that your transmission is complete. This feature can usually be toggled on/off via the menu.
7. NOAA Weather Channels with Alert
- The radios can receive emergency and weather broadcasts from the NOAA National Weather Service. Consult your radio's menu for specific instructions on accessing and setting up weather alerts.
8. Flashlight Function
- To activate the built-in flashlight, locate the dedicated LAMP button or a multi-function button that controls the light. Press and hold or press briefly as per the radio's interface.

Maintenance
Battery Care
- Always use the specified rechargeable AA NiMH batteries and charging accessories.
- Do not expose batteries to high temperatures or dispose of them in fire.
- If the radio will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
Cleaning
- Clean the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed when not charging to maintain water resistance.
