5. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your micro inverter. Always follow local electrical codes and safety guidelines.
5.1 Mounting the Inverter
- The SG600MD is rated IP65 for outdoor use and can be mounted directly under the PV module or on a suitable racking system.
- Choose a mounting location that allows for natural convection cooling and is not exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods, if possible, to help manage temperature.
- Use the provided screw pack to securely fasten the inverter to the mounting surface. Ensure the mounting is robust enough to support the inverter's weight.

5.2 Electrical Connections
All electrical connections must be made with power disconnected. Verify correct polarity for DC connections.
- DC Input Connection: Connect the MC4 connectors from your solar PV modules to the DC input terminals (DC Input I and DC Input II) on the inverter. Ensure a secure and tight connection. The inverter supports two PV modules, each up to 300W.
- AC Output Connection: Connect the AC bus cable from the inverter to your electrical grid. This connection should be made by a qualified electrician to ensure compliance with local grid connection requirements. The inverter can be daisy-chained with other compatible micro-inverters up to 4 units on a 120VAC branch or 8 units on a 230VAC branch.
- Grounding: Ensure the inverter chassis is properly grounded.

6. Operation
Once properly installed and connected, the SG600MD micro inverter operates largely automatically.
6.1 Powering On
After all DC and AC connections are secure and power is supplied from the PV modules and the grid, the inverter will automatically start its power conversion process. The status indicator LED will provide feedback on its operational state.
6.2 Monitoring
The inverter features 2.4G wireless communication for monitoring purposes. Refer to the separate documentation for the receiver and monitoring system for details on how to access performance data.
7. Maintenance
The SG600MD micro inverter is designed for minimal maintenance. Regular checks can help ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the inverter to remove dust, dirt, or debris that may accumulate and hinder natural cooling. Use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Connection Inspection: Annually inspect all DC and AC connections for tightness and signs of corrosion or damage. Ensure all cables are securely fastened and not under strain.
- Environmental Check: Ensure the area around the inverter remains clear of obstructions to allow for proper airflow.
8. Troubleshooting
If the inverter is not operating as expected, refer to the following common issues and solutions:
- No Power Output:
- Check if DC power is supplied from the PV modules (ensure sufficient sunlight).
- Verify all DC and AC connections are secure and correctly wired.
- Ensure the grid is active and connected.
- Status Indicator Not Lit or Flashing Abnormally:
- Refer to the inverter's specific LED indicator guide (if available) for error codes.
- Check input voltage from PV modules; it must be within the operating range (18V-50V).
- Ensure AC grid voltage and frequency are within standard ranges.
- Low Power Output:
- Check for shading on PV modules.
- Ensure PV modules are clean.
- Verify PV module specifications match the inverter's input requirements.
