2. Safety Instructions

WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings

  • Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
  • Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield. Wear hearing protection when operating the tool for extended periods. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
  • Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.

4. Setup

Attaching the Auxiliary Handle

  1. Loosen the auxiliary handle by rotating it counter-clockwise.
  2. Slide the handle onto the front of the drill body.
  3. Adjust the handle to a comfortable and secure position (360-degree rotation is possible).
  4. Tighten the handle by rotating it clockwise until it is firmly secured.

Inserting SDS Plus Bits

  1. Clean the shank of the SDS Plus bit to remove any dust or debris.
  2. Apply a small amount of grease (provided) to the bit shank. This aids in smooth operation and extends the life of the chuck.
  3. Pull back the chuck collar on the front of the tool.
  4. Insert the SDS Plus bit into the chuck until it clicks into place.
  5. Release the chuck collar. The bit should have a slight amount of play (in-and-out movement) which is normal for SDS Plus systems.
  6. Pull on the bit to ensure it is securely locked. If it pulls out, repeat steps 3-5.

Attaching the Depth Gauge

  1. Locate the hole on the auxiliary handle designed for the depth gauge.
  2. Insert the depth gauge rod into this hole.
  3. Adjust the depth gauge to the desired drilling depth. The tip of the bit should extend beyond the end of the depth gauge by the required drilling depth.
  4. Tighten the auxiliary handle to secure the depth gauge in position.

5. Operating Instructions

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety goggles, gloves, and a face mask before operating the tool.

Selecting Operating Mode

The rotary hammer features multiple operating modes. Select the appropriate mode using the mode selector switch located on the side of the tool:

  • Drill Mode: For drilling into wood, metal, or plastic without hammer action.
  • Hammer Drill Mode: For drilling into masonry, concrete, or stone with combined rotation and hammer action.
  • Chisel Mode (Hammer Only): For chiseling, chipping, or light demolition without rotation. The bit can be rotated and locked into various positions for optimal working angles.

Variable Speed Control

The tool features a variable speed trigger. The drilling or hammering speed can be adjusted by the amount of pressure applied to the trigger. For precise control, start with light pressure and gradually increase as needed. The maximum no-load speed is 600 RPM.

Drilling Operations

  1. Ensure the correct SDS Plus drill bit is securely installed.
  2. Select the appropriate operating mode (Drill or Hammer Drill).
  3. Mark the drilling location on the workpiece.
  4. Hold the tool firmly with both hands, ensuring a stable stance.
  5. Place the tip of the drill bit on the marked spot.
  6. Press the trigger to start the tool. Begin with light pressure and gradually increase as the bit penetrates the material.
  7. Maintain steady pressure and allow the tool to do the work. Do not force the drill.
  8. Once the desired depth is reached (indicated by the depth gauge), release the trigger and withdraw the bit from the hole.

  4. Hold the tool firmly with both hands.
  5. Place the tip of the chisel bit against the material to be removed.
  6. Press the trigger to start the hammer action.
  7. Apply steady, controlled pressure to guide the chisel.
  8. Continue until the material is removed.
