Setup and Installation

Professional installation by a certified technician is strongly recommended to ensure proper functioning and safety. Refer to the detailed installation diagram provided in the packaging for specific mounting and plumbing connections.

Pre-Installation Checks:

  • Verify that the water pressure in your home is within the recommended range (Min. Water Flow Rate: 3.0L/min, Max. Water Pressure: 4 bar / 58 p.s.i.).
  • Ensure the electrical supply meets the appliance requirements (220-240V~ 50/60Hz, 3300W).
  • Confirm the mounting location is suitable for indoor installation and can support the weight of the unit when filled with water.

Operating Instructions

Initial Start-Up:

  1. Ensure the water heater is properly installed and all connections are secure.
  2. Open the main water supply valve to allow water to flow through the unit and fill the tank. Allow water to flow from the shower head for a few moments to purge any air from the system.
  3. Turn on the electrical power supply to the water heater.

Power Selection:

The Sona SWH 223 features a smooth step-less power selection knob located on the front panel (refer to Figure 1).

  • Turn the knob clockwise from the "OFF" position to select your desired heating level.
  • LOW: Provides a lower heating output, suitable for warmer ambient temperatures or when less hot water is required.
  • HIGH: Provides maximum heating output for faster heating or colder ambient temperatures.
  • The red "POWER" indicator light will illuminate when the unit is receiving power and actively heating water.

Water Flow Rate:

The unit requires a minimum water flow rate of 3.0 L/min to activate the heating element. If the water flow is too low, the heater may not activate or may cycle on and off. Adjust your water tap to achieve adequate flow.

Safety Features:

The water heater is equipped with a Double Safety Thermostat to prevent anti-scalding and boil-dry conditions, ensuring safe operation.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient performance of your water heater.

Cleaning the Exterior:

  • Before cleaning, ensure the power supply to the unit is switched off at the main circuit breaker.
  • Wipe the exterior casing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • The unit is splash-proof to International IP25 Specification, meaning it is protected against water jets from any direction. However, avoid directly spraying water onto the unit with high pressure.

Shower Head Maintenance:

Periodically clean the nozzles of the 5-Ways Multi-Massage Spray hand shower set to prevent mineral buildup and maintain optimal spray patterns. Detach the shower head and soak it in a descaling solution if necessary, then rinse thoroughly.

Internal Descaling (Professional Service Recommended):

In areas with hard water, mineral deposits can accumulate inside the heating element and tank over time, reducing efficiency. It is recommended to have the unit professionally descaled every 1-2 years, depending on water hardness. This procedure should only be performed by a qualified technician.
