5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

6.2 AC Voltage Test

To measure AC voltage and frequency:

  2. Connect the red test lead to the live (hot) terminal and the black test lead to the neutral or ground terminal of the AC source.
  3. Read the AC voltage and frequency values displayed on the screen.

6.3 DC Voltage Test

To measure DC voltage:

  1. Ensure the multimeter is in Auto mode or manually select DC voltage if available.
  2. Connect the red test lead to the positive (+) terminal and the black test lead to the negative (-) terminal of the DC source.
  3. Read the DC voltage value displayed on the screen.

6.4 Capacitance Test

To measure capacitance:

  1. Ensure the circuit is de-energized and any capacitors are fully discharged before testing.
  2. Press the Capacitance Button (5) to switch to capacitance mode.
  3. Connect the test leads across the capacitor terminals.
  4. Read the capacitance value displayed on the screen.

6.5 Resistance, Diode, and Continuity Test

In Auto mode, the multimeter can automatically detect and measure resistance, diode forward voltage drop, or continuity.

  • Resistance: Connect test leads across the component. The display will show resistance in Ohms (Ω).
  • Diode: Connect test leads across the diode. The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the leads to check for open circuit.
  • Continuity: Connect test leads across the circuit. A low resistance (typically <50Ω) will trigger an audible beep, indicating continuity.

WARNING: Ensure the circuit is de-energized before performing resistance, diode, or continuity tests.

6.6 V-Alert (NCV) and Live Wire Check

These features allow for non-contact detection of AC voltage, enhancing safety.

  • V-Alert (NCV): Press the V-Alert or Live Wire Check Button (4). Place the V-Alert sensor area (3) near an AC voltage source. The multimeter will beep and the analog bar will indicate the strength of the detected field.
  • Live Wire Check: This function helps identify live wires. Follow the device's specific instructions for this mode, usually involving placing one test lead into a socket and using the NCV sensor.

6.7 Flashlight

Press the Flashlight Switch (6) to turn the built-in LED flashlight on or off, useful for illuminating dark work areas.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the device is completely dry before use.

7.2 Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in the "Battery Installation" section (5.1). Always use the specified battery type.
